I would like to change the stock air filter with something better.

What would you recommend between:

1) AEM DryFlow Replacement Filter
2) AFE Pro Dry S Air Filter
3) K & N

My personal opinion is anything dry. I'm not a fan of oiled filters. I would say you can't go wrong with any of them. My choice would be the AFE.

I have the AFE Pro Dry S and haven't had any problems. Don't know if it made any power but throttle response increased. If there were any gains it may have been in the midrange rpms. I did gain about .5 mpgs.

A few thousand miles later I added a modular intake tube and that did seem to increase power slightly, again, in the midrange rpms. My mpgs increased by another .5 after that. The increase in mileage tells me it must be doing something. I definitely recommend this combo.

I like the dry filters from AEM and AFE just because they are easier to maintain than a K&N but all three options are fine.

I think if I bite the bullet and get a big mouth ram air kit from velossatech I will have a setup that is better than any CAI. A vendor on a truck forum tested various CAI options and the modular intake tube and dry filter produced the most gains. Granted, this was for a truck but the principles are still the same.

No dumb questions here, I learn something new here everyday. The air boxes on these cars are already a CAI for the most part and Ford did a really good job with it. I think the stock intake tube is the biggest bottleneck. The next bottleneck is the solid parts of the "honeycomb" grill in front of the stock air box's inlet. By cutting open those solid bits and putting the ram air kit you are maximizing airflow.

Have you installed your velossatech kit yet?

Not yet, I bought it only yesterday after the replies on this topic. And now I'm looking around this tube. Will end buying it [emoji33]

Gotcha, you'll have to post a write up on installation. I'm always nervous to remove body pieces for some reason even though I know the bumper is more tedious than hard.

The modular intake tube only took me about 15 minutes and the hardest part is disconnecting the plastic clips on all the wire harnesses.
