Hey guys,

As you may know, we are working to develop a slew of new products for the EB. One such product in process is some really nice aluminum intercooler piping. We have been working on a few prototype designs and ideas, but we are looking for some feedback from you guys.

First, we would like to see what you folks would prefer for a BPV system on the hot-side pipe. We have two options.

Option 1: Factory Flange Welded To Piping

141vdsl.webp

  • Cleaner appearance
  • Retains factory BPV and hose
  • Bolt-on design
  • Will not function with aftermarket BOV/BPV
Option 2: Flange Connected To Pipe With Silicone Hose

24vrxcp.webp

  • Not as aesthetically pleasing
  • Slightly higher cost
  • Easier to swap aftermarket BOV/BPV (with use of proper adapter)
Please cast your votes and let us know which design is preferred. Additionally, feel free to chime in with any opinions or recommendations for the overall design for this piping kit. This can include things such as:

  • Piping color/finish
  • Meth/sensor bung inclusion
  • Coupler and clamp inclusions
  • Etc.
We need your help to develop the products that you want for the EcoBoost Mustang! Thanks in advance for the help!

-John

Absolutely No.1. I always like to use stock connections and a clean installation. But I do not race or show off so I have no need for a aftermarket BOV. If you would ask my 18 year old son - that would be a different story.:gossip:

Joke:
I see 100% for No.1 :D

Some sort of hybrid option would be good, where there can be an adapter between the two options instead of just one or the other if it's possible.

I also vote #1.

Manufacturers will create model specific valves that bolt into the stock location. I believe Turbosmart already has one.

Honestly though, why not offer both?

As for color and finish, I will not put a single polished or chrome thing under the hood of my car. Personally, I would like a wrinkle texture in black (or magnetic).

I also think a 1/8NPT(or PT) bung somewhere that is not visible when it is installed would be superb as well. That way guys wanting a stockish look dont have an unsightly bung they may never use.

#2 - I am a ricer and I like aftermarket BOV's.

Also, a follow-up question. The factory tune keeps the electric bypass valve open under light throttle at highway speeds which I despise. Do aftermarket tunes address this?

Thanks! Yes, I assume some aftermarket companies will develop aftermarket units with the footprint of the stock unit. This is similar to what we saw when the Genesis Coupe 2.0T was released.

Offering both is certainly an option. This poll is being conducted to see if a big percentage of folks would prefer one option or the other.

I agree with your color preference. Wrinkle-black seems to be a go-to color for a ton of under-hood components.

Input regarding the bung is noted! We are also planning to incorporate a bung location on our intercooler end tank. This will not be pre-drilled, but will be a location of thicker material for drilling and tapping for a sensor or port.

Thanks for taking the time to offer your recommendations!

Haha thanks for the vote! Great question regarding the open BPV under light throttle. Unfortunately we have not delved into tuning the EB, so we cannot provide a super concrete answer for this one. Let me do a bit of research and see if anyone modifies this particular ECU function with tuning.
