My take on this is Donson is right to a point. I think they will stop producing the Mustang GT350 and the next iteration of this car will be introduced again as a Lincoln Coupe halo car. Something to finally rival the CTSV and yet set it apart with the new american exotic VooDoo motor.

And with that there will be more innovative breakthroughs added to the Lincoln version of this.

Lincoln needs a shot in the arm and the VooDoo platform is just the ticket to do that with a nice dose of ecoboost thrown in to keep it elegantly powerful and surprisingly economical.

Well I certainly give you credit for having the most creative speculation on this forum. ;)

It was just in one of the MotorTrend or Car and Driver (on line) that the R did the Quarter mile in 12 secs flat...It did not say the speed..

If true....then that's not to shabby.

For Lincoln to do what Cadillac has done...would be nearly impossible, risky, and to expensive......lastly late to the game....I highly doubt Lincoln would ever get their hands on a VOODOO engine....and for what? the lux/sports sedan? no way it sucks to much gas.....no way ...I just don't see it happening....

Outstanding and very good to hear. The car will be in the 11's with a decent pilot. Auto rag test #s are usually with an "off idle" launch and a lousy 60 ft split. Car magazines emphasize the 1/4 mile E.T. and 0-60 time as it is what magazine readers expect. Hard core enthusiasts and racers know that the real measure of usable power and overall balls on the street is the trap MPH. 120 on that end would be nice to see.

There are also buyers who were once "mustang guys" in their youth that moved upscale as they got older, their incomes increased etc. This is a car that will bring them back.

I disagree...with the last Car show the Lincoln introduced what amounted to a BENLTY with Lincoln badging on it in the Continental.

If they also added a coupe with the VooDoo... it would appeal to the same Mustang guys who are all "growed up" and want some of the seat of the pants thrill from their Mustangs .... in their Lincoln.

It doesn't have to be the division leader....It just needs to be their halo car variant.

The CTSV does not carry the Cadillac division. All the other offering do.

Same goes for Lincoln. They're missing the Halo car.

How this, ..Lincoln brings out an upscale AMG/BMW-M style interior on a Merkur XR4ti styled car, using the new Focus RS as it's base..? High performance cooling, brakes, suspension and 10-spd, etc.

A 5-door upscale hatch for the weekend tracker and reformed DD and practicality as grocery getter. But away from the "boy-racer" look. Something sporting the familiar Merkur twin-spoiler. Not hard to think of an AWD Lincoln sporting advanced MagneRide and 400pnds of thrust, w/ killer upscale'ness..? CF quarters, hatch, etc.

You are absolutely right. The Merkur was a super cool car in its day. Unfortunately the US market and the Lincoln loyalists were just not ready for that type of serious road car. We had yet as a nation to fully divorce ourselves from the land barges of the 60s and 70s. A Merkur type offering with a high reving V8 might be what Lincoln needs as they are totally missing the niche that Cadillac currently satisfies.

Low class dude here. People are chomping at the bits just to find a car to order at MSRP or at a decent ADM and this dude comes in and "toots his horn" about a below MSRP deal. Lol. As a great football announcer once said, "You make the call."
