Hell is up with Leasing?

I finally got the OKTB from my dealer, Before I left my deposit i wanted to talk about payments and he told me that leasing will cost $800 month with 2k down. My face sank and I got it down to $750 which is astronomically high. In comparison I can lease a 435i 65k car for $700 month. Even the 1LE brand new Chevy wanted $580 month. WTH is up?:frusty:

That seams way off, he's probably just quoting high to keep you wanting to purchase. Once the Mustang is out for awhile, they will be offering some competitive lease rates, not as good as Mercedes or BMW, but not $800 a month !!

$2500 down, $562 a month. 36mo. They usually always offer the best rates, most of them go through US Bank Lease.

That lease amount makes absolutely no sense. What money factor are they using. If they go as high as .003 on the money factor which would be an outrageous interest rate of 7.2%, your lease payment would still be no where near 800 bucks a month. It would probably be around 500 for 36 months. And i think with the right residual value you could get those payments in the 450 range with 2000 down or even nothing down. I suggest nothing down because putting money down on a lease is a waste. Just my opinion. Tell them to show you all the numbers they used. Also, make sure you negotiate the price to buy first and they use that as the price to calculate the lease. For $800 per month, you should lease a Jaguar F-Type instead! ;-)

Go to the build & price and lease info can be calculated. I built an EB with everything and lease is $352 for 36 months. It doesn't show GT leasing info.

There are decent leases on the V6/EB through Ford Credit.

Due to the fact that Ford doesnt have any low apr(money factor) on the GT leases, the price of the lease goes up FAST ( Standard rate is 11%). It's obvious Ford doesnt want to lease GT models. Of course you can lease them for a little better deal through US Bank or other lenders, but in general if you gonna lease a GT you will find out real quick that you're much better off just buying the vehicle and owning it.

As already noted, Ford does not (and historically has not) offer good lease rates on Mustang GT's (or Super Duty trucks, for that matter) as they get used and abused and Ford doesn't want them back. 4/6 cylinder Mustangs get really attractive lease rates, however.

Most banks & CU's are offering historically low interest rates on loans, though, so GT's will be very affordable if financed.
