How difficult/costly would it be to add heated side view mirrors to my base GT?

If all the wiring is there, it would simply be the cost of the mirrors + installation time, the latter of which shouldn't be too expensive. Otherwise, it becomes a lot more complicated and expensive to do.

For what it's worth, my 2014 V6 Premium did not come stock with heated mirrors but I was able to make the swap. The only drawback is the mirrors were over $250 each, so the cost adds up fast even if the installation costs aren't terrible.

Should be an easy swap, but it'll probably be $650 total for two mirror assemblies + labor. Dealer would have to flash the computer since the heaters are tied in to the rear window defroster relay.

if i were doing it, i'd take off my non-heated mirrors and check to see if the wiring is there.

If there IS wiring,
Then get a 9v or 18v dc led bulb at radioshack (i havent seen aa 12v one at radioshack), then plug the bulb wires into the just found harness while turning on defroster to see if it lights up the bulb. If bulb lights us, you probably just need to buy heated mirrors and plug it in.

If the bulb does not light up, then either have dealer program it, but what i would do (as i hate taking my car into dealership) is,

Using the same led test bulb find the wire that connects to rear defroster. I solder a long wire to the ground side of bulb wire, and solder an allegator clipto "hot" end, then clip the clip onto a needle or a pin. I can niw use the needle to poke through insulation and look for "live" wires.

i would check behnd fusebox, or in the worse case, under rear parcel shelf. Once wire is found, tap it, run it to the control side of a SPST or SPDT relay (i get mine from ebay), then run a wire from battery through firewall (i use wire coat hanger to push wire through the hood release cable grommet), connect to relay, then from relay to hot wire on the mirrors.

This was going to be my exact post as I was reading down the thread.

Just because the wires are there does not mean they are connected or ready to go live. Just compare the lighted sill plates and the unlighted ones on the 50AP cars. The wires are there, but they are not hooked up to the fuse box.

Dig a little before buying parts.

How in the world do I get the side mirrors to heat up? I tried pressing the R defrost button but the side view mirror defrost indicator does not light up
The rear defrost button turns on the side mirrors as well. What is this side view mirror defrost indicator you speak of?

There's like an etching/drawing of the defrost symbol on the mirror. Is that suppose to light up?
Naw, at least mine doesn't and I've never had a car that does. Would be pretty annoying. I think that is just there to indicate that the mirrors are in fact heated.

You sure you're not thinking of the BLIS indicator?

So to avoid starting a new thread, did any of you end up looking into this, or doing it? How hard of a swap is it?
