Mods in my sig. No leaks so far. I did have a reputable lical shop do the install.

I think it might be too loud with your catback. Ive had my headers on for months and the rasp and cold start loudness have driven me crazy.

Crazy enough to purchase a pair of Pypes M80 resonator/mufflers (louvered instead of perforated design), #MVR200S, to be welded in next week.

What did they charge you for install on the headers if you don't mind me asking?

I can answer that question for you. I was planning to add headers months ago from the same shop he went too. $600 from a very reputable shop, that's typically the best price you'll find.

It looks like you live in NY though, not sure what the laws there are with emissions, but here in Cali there illegal to modify headers/cats...so many shops won't install them.

$440 for header install at very popular mustang shop in fort mill sc called pro dyno. Locally (about hr and half away from prodyno is where I live) we've seen about 550 but haven't really called around yet

Header installation should only be 500 to 600 maximum. At least out here in Los Angeles...and I would imagine our labor rates are on the higher end. A competent shop should be able to do the install in 5 to 6 hours. So at 100/hr that that's 500 to 600.

Is there anyone who installs headers simply for the performance reasoning and not the sound? I'd love to entertain the idea, but don't want anything louder than say the stock setup + Corsa Sport Catback decibel level, and preferably even quieter. Also, passing emissions would be nice. Impossible pipe-dream that limits the performance gain, or just something nobody goes for?

I'll would guess that most people get headers for the performance aspects over sound. 1500-2k is a bit pricey for exhaust tone.

Back in my s2000 days, we had a cat-delete "test-pipe" which made it so the o2 sensor was pulled out a bit from the exhaust flow. This kept the car from throwing check engine codes, and I always passed emissions tests with it.

Check out mak's cat delete pipes. Simple bolt in and out for emissions testing.
