I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of longtubes….most likely the Stainless Power offroad factory connect system. My question for those of you who have put headers on these cars is install technique. I know a local guy (who is also a member here but doesn’t log on very often) who put a set of SW headers on his car and did not loosen or remove the motor mounts. He says there is no need to. I trust him, but I'm curious if he just got lucky or if this step really isn’t necessary? I have put several sets of headers on LS1 F-bodies, but I have to imagine that’s a much simpler job than this is going to be. So for you guys have that have installed SP/SW headers (or any other longtubes for that matter) I have a few questions

-Did you loosen or remove the motor mounts to get the headers in?
-Did you run into any clearance issues other than the known AC line bracket?
-Once the headers are on, did you have to shift the engine at all to gain clearance between the frame rails or any other part of the car?
-I have Steeda jacking rails. Would it be easier to get all 4 wheels off the ground to do this? Or should I just lift the front? How high does the car need to be?
-Is there any reason to spend an extra $100 on header bolts, or can I use the ones that come with the headers? Can I reuse 1-2 studs to help line up/hang the headers as I'm bolting them on?
-Do you use the supplied silicone, or just put the flanges on dry?
-Any other tips/tricks?

Thanks for the insight

it has an engine!
Pulling the motor is the easiest. Did a few buddies installs on s197 yotes and s550. Took me about 3.5 hrs.

You can leave the motor mounts but their brackets need to come out for sure. Also unbolting the a/c compressor makes life easier when it comes time to remove the front upper passenger side header bolt.

I used CJPP's install video for the last few header installs I've done.
