Decided to add a little more black to my orange fury Mustang. I didn’t want a full side stripe, so went with some hash stripes.
First, I mocked them up with some painters tape so I could decide where I wanted them, how wide, and how far apart.
Next, I carefully placed the first line of 3M knifeless tape. This tape has a strong filament in it that is later pulled through the vinyl to cut straight lines.
Now I carefully measured out and placed the additional tape. These stripes are 3 inches wide each, with a half inch gap.
After this, I took the vinyl I had (3M gloss black, 1 foot by 5 feet) and cut a section that would more than cover the area. Once that was on and I had squeegee’d the air bubbles out, I carefully pulled the filaments to make the cuts. Peeling off the excess, and voila! Hash stripes!
