Has anyone broken their Torsen differential as a result of launching hard on street tires and/or slicks or drag radials? I’m also looking for information on how much this differential can handle? Thanks.

In 40,000+ miles I put on my supercharged pp GT, I had zero problems. I was not easy on the car but never had drag tires on for a launch. The summer tires would break loose before anything breaks in my cars experience.

What about on a car that has Ford Performance half shafts?
I've seen 2000HP half shafts break before the differential, so yes those should break first.

I‘m praying and believing that my car will hold together, at least for a good while before I break or have to replace anything.

How much power do you have?

I‘m making baby power at 469/434 on motor and 639/603 on the bottle.

Depending on when the juice comes in, you should be fine. I would upgrade the half shafts if you are running slicks or a real sticky DR. I have yet to see a diffy fail in my experience. Maybe someone else can chime in.

I wouldn't worry about breaking anything at that power level, since you already have upgraded half shafts.

I'm making well over 600 in my gt350 and low and behold.....I had to order new racing axles yesterday. Friday night at the drag strip I launched my car on drag radials.....about the 7th pass I heard a pop and my car didn't move. I had to trailer it home and next day I looked into it and found I broke my passenger rear axle. It was bound to happen. The car was running pretty fast that night.

Sorry to hear about the broken axle. What will you be replacing them with?

What type of drag radials were you running? How long of a burnout did you do and what was your launch rpm? I’m just trying to see what 60’, ET and MPH you were running at that power level and what it took to get out of the hole successfully? Any time slips that you can post to share with us? Thanks

I've got some slips I can post. So I've got a 2017 gt350. It's all motor but I have added quite a bit to the car. E85 tune, pmas Intake, stainless works long tube headers, 4:56 gear rear end, dss 1 piece aluminum driveshaft, 91mm throttle body, msd coils, etc. I've also removed some weight out of the car as well. So I've got a set of weld laguna beadlock wheels and mickey thompson 305/45/18 drag radials. My fastest 1/8 mile pass was 7.7 at 94mph. The problem I was facing before my axles broke was wheel hop. I would launch anywhere from 2500-4000 rpm. I would engage linelock and do a second gear burnout for about 5-6 seconds to get smoke rolling and the car would leave as hard as ever but my wheel hop was pretty bad. So I've ordered a set of g force renegade axles in hopes of helping with wheel hop and obviously because my axles are broke in half at the current moment. My best 60 foot was 1.6 which I honestly don't even know how because of the wheel hop. I'll post some slips in a bit. Honestly don't even want to look at the car right now.

Heres a 7.89 pass I made. I'm looking for my 7.72 pass slip but conveniently I cannot find it. It was a 7.72 with a 1.6 60 foot at 94mph. I'm hoping these axles keep the wheel hop down because it's hot enough power in the car to run a 7.5 all day.
