Has anyone else had a problem where the 3rd to 1st shift is very hard compared to your normal downshift? My car is a 10R80. It’s only coming to a stop and I play with the brake so I’m not hard on it because I know when to expect it to make it less stressful on the car or at least it seems that way because when I’m not on the brakes as much it’s not nearly as hard or is sometimes normal. This is a Lund tuned car and it will also randomly throw a P061A code, no limp mode or wrench light I’ve just picked it up a handful of times on my Nguage because I often sift for codes just in case because that’s how I am lol but I clear it everytime it comes up. The car has 26,xxx miles on it and it shifts fantastic all the way through the gears but that 3rd to 1st when coming to a stop is just....not normal. It’s totally fine when up shifting and doesn’t slip or anything and it pulls great and shifts as it should on pulls but I’m just curious if anyone else has had this issue. It only started doing this once it was tuned and has not gotten worse or better it’s just always been the same. Been tuned since 8k and I should’ve made this post much earlier but better late than never.

I wouldn't be doing that. Go to 2nd, roll to a stop then go to first.

Hello; Two thoughts. First is to pause in neutral for a beat then try for first if you must while the car is still in motion.
My best approach is to not go for first unless stopped. I do from time to time go for first if I am just creeping along. Yesterday I was approaching a red light so started slowing down a ways back. Sometimes the light changes and I can keep rolling from second or third. That day I was almost stopped when the cars started moving. I was going slow so a pull into first was not too hard.
For clutch life and throw out bearing I always put the gear in neutral and let out the clutch while stopped. I then pull it into first when the light changes. I do not sit with the trans in gear and the clutch pushed in.

Same as others have said. I go 3 to 2 then to 1 when stopped. Usually it's 4 to 2 then 1 when stopped but if in 3rd coming to a stop I do the 2 1 thing. I also don't sit at a light in gear with the clutch in. I watch the lights and people and put it in gear just before taking off. Is the rev matching kicking RPM up when throwing in 1? I basically throw it in 1 when I know I'm going slow enough to not cause the car to announce to the entire intersection that it's coming to a stop.

My bad guys I appreciate the quick responses but my car is a 10R80. I’ll edit that, sorry again but thank you for the responses. I understand that it sounded like I was stupid for a second 🤣

Appreciate the response man I edited the post. My car is a 10R80 but I do appreciate the insight as I will be getting a Viper eventually and even though I know how to drive manual I still do appreciate the reminder!

Edited the post, my car is a 10R80, I can see why a 3rd to 1st would seem stupid lmao. Thank you for responding so quick! New to posting on forums and I spaced mentioning my car was an auto!

Sounds like a transmission flash is needed I think. Pretty sure the tuner can handle it if you let them know what's going on.
