When my handbrake is disengaged(off) it doesn't lay flat...comes up about a half inch. Is there an adjustment to work this out?

I can push mine down just a bit too, always assumed it was normal. Doesn't seem to affect the parking brake so I haven't worried about it.

I was experiencing the same issues with mine. It would not lay flat and often times come up enough during hard acceleration/ bumpy roads to turn the brake light on on the dash. I tightened the adjustment nut as described in that thread and the lever now lays flat as it should. I imagine it will do the same for you, worth a try.

Nice! Mine seems to pull pretty high to engage it now so I'll have to play around with that on a day I'm not feeling lazy.

Mine did the same thing when I brought it home new.Brought it back to the dealer and they adjusted it. It's been fine since.

Yep crawl under the car and adjust it. Mine did the same thing as yours and I had to crank it way high up to get it actually hold. After tightening the adjustment it stays flat, never get the parking brake light, and just a little tug engages the parking brake enough to hold the car on my slightly sloped driveway.

Another cause might be the boot on the handle being incorrectly installed.
If it is too tight towards the back, it will bind at the pivot and pull at the front of the handle, lifting it a bit.
Adjusting the boot with a few pulls and twists will free it up.

Looks like the EcoBoost is different from the GT in another way...the parking brake adjustment is buried behind the exhaust resonator, impossible to get to without dropping resonator.
