Hello,

I was wondering if it is bad for the diff if i handbrake drift. I have 2016 GT auto and drift a lot. Sometimes i really have to use the handbrake in order to start the drift or sometimes when it really understeers. I am just curious how bad is it for the diff and if i can co tinue doing so. Thnx

Lol mine seems broken. Can't seem to handbrake drift in the Stang. Every other car i've ever owned could  even my 91 cavalier

Cable stretch and rear pad wear. plus flat spots on expensive tyres. But if drifting is your thing, you can get some good aftermarket kits with ratchet lockout, upgraded braided cables etc.

Any abrupt motion to the rear axle is gonna wear the diff especially when the input shaft is spinning and you suddenly lock the half shafts.

I do some wicked drifting in Publix with the cart. Love the spot back by the bacon and beer, caught a wheel on the pepperoni display rack the other day.

It was mad phat.
Ha Ha! I have done that with shopping carts too, especially with my 8yo standing on the back. He thinks it is really funny... :) Of course I never do it on public aisles, and it is always in "Mexico" grocery stores. Have never drifted my car though (at least not on purpose). I am too afraid of running out of talent and doing something that I will really regret.

I feel like a manual rwd import or other similar trashy RWD '90s vehicle would be more suited for drifting.

Hope you got your band-aid stickers ready.

Irony of drifting - Imports finally get enough power to drift and make it a sport, American v8s spent 30+ years trying to get enough traction to not drift!

I dont ebrake pull in my car but happy I have the option in the car if I ever feel like giving it a whirl. I guess thats something we can say that the new Camaro owners can't haha.
