Can anyone tell me how bad it is to run the Gurney Flap on the road. In addition to a warning label on the underside, there are 2-3 more warnings in the manual. Besides poorer gas mileage, would anything else be effected? Wanted to install and then go to the track to save the hassle.

I watched a bunch of reviews online and they had the gurney flap fitted and didn't even so much as mention any warnings or downsides, so not sure?

Even if it does hamper the milage a little...who cares? Buy a Honda Civic then.

My dealer wouldn't even put mine on since it said off road only.

Just so weird they really insist running it only on a track. And not just a suggestion…very pointed statements.
I’m almost positive it’s related to emissions. Ford doesn’t want the EPA swat team kicking in the door and shooting their dogs. If they advertise the car at let’s say 18 mpg and sell it with the flap on, and it only gets 17? RIP
Much easier to say “off-road use only” and let the customer do whatever they want.

LOL…I’m sure you’re right. Thanks

If you are buying a M1, forget mileage. You are probably going to average out at 16-17.

Gurney flag hurts mileage and definitely pushes more downforce so your tires are used more than they should but I would not run my Mach 1 without it. M1 with gurney flap looks like a street demon and I highly recommend it.

By the looks of them, after just one track day, not sure the tires are going to last much longer anyway. The cost of having fun.

The Gurney Flap, reminds me of the fox body days with the classic Saleen wing. Still one of my favorites, and the HP wing with the flap is an instant classic.
