I leave mine on along with the wickers, obviously for looks as I am not concerned about MPG. I haven't seen anyone stealing items off of cars at a track. However, loose items...yes...I had to once drive home on full slicks as someone stole my rear tires when I used to race my Supra. I am fairly selective when/where I drive my car, so I do not worry about that too much. My advice is, if you are taking the car somewhere that you have that much of a concern, either keep the car in view or don't drive it.

Cool thing is a member on a forum actually gave me a set of rear rims with brand new tires after hearing what happened. I used to help people with issues and offer tuning advice and apparently, he was someone I helped out and did not realize it.

In an attempt to make it a bit tougher for them, I swapped the bolts holding the flap on.

You did right. The idea is to at least slow the process down if you can't prevent it from happening at all. That may or may not increase the opportunity to catch someone in the act.

I pulled the swing/flap off my '20 GT500 and swapped on a legit GT4 wing and uprights. I used the same button headed torx security fasteners (albeit from Mcmaster-Carr) and some unique nuts from Belmetric. A sawzall can rip through the uprights in seconds, I get this, but the hope is to make it a little more challenging were any scumbaggery to take place.

The nuts require a special driver (Belmetric charges ~$100 for it) and I also used medium/blue thread locker. I don't plan on changing the AOA so I'm good with it the way it is.

Gurney is for the track. Anything under 100mph isn’t doing anything except burning more fuel.

That is a bit of a contradictory statement as your implication (burning more fuel) is regarding drag and in the case of the Gurney Flap, that drag isn't without additional downforce.

Read the gurney flap information on page 39 in your owners supplement.
Doesn’t talk about security but it does talk about application.

The supplement doesn't say anything with respect to your comments about "under 100mph."

Simply stated, if there is drag due to the flap, it is producing some amount of downforce - depending on speed.

You are right. I got the 100mph from this forum. There has been a few discussions on this in the past.
Just to be clear, I don’t give a flip what you guys do to your cars....this is America.
The supplement states “The Gurney flap must be removed for on-road driving”. What is the reason for that? As someone stated earlier, it may be due to fuel mileage.
All I’m doing is repeating what I’ve read. Carry on.

Page 48 of the Mach 1 Supplement, lower left corner in bold black letters specifically states that the rear Gurney flap must be removed for on road driving !

It also goes on to state that the engine is designed to run on 87 oct. Well damn it ........... I'm going to go drain my tank and take all the 93 oct back for a refund.

And from it the words "below 70mph may benefit..." It also states it can be used at any track regardless of speed. Therein is your between the lines giveaway about how it translates to being used outside the confines of a given track.

Cue the quote above regarding the EPA. Much of what you see from Ford is the result of endless years of lawsuits along with the concentrated effort to appear to be ever concerned with the environment. Science, is losing the battle in today's world.
