So I'm sitting at my monthly GM meeting with the owner of the company this afternoon and at the end he says hey Chris, come see what I am buying. So naturally knowing he is a car guy like myself I'm curious. He shows me an email from the local big time Ford dealer that tells him he has been granted the allocation of 1 Ford GT when it goes into production and wants to know if he would like it. He says of course and he'll take it. Has no idea of final offering price nor color it will be but made the deal. I told him I have to go for a ride soon as he gets it!! So envious but happy for him!! Awesome car and great boss too!

Pretty cool as most of us will not even see one in person not to mention ride in one. Great having a car guy boss too!

I'd be tempted to stealthily switch wheels with him on the off-chance he wouldn't notice!

Must be nice to be able to order a car without even worrying about the MSRP..... Lucky you that you get a ride in it!

I call bullshit that he is granted aloaction on a car that is years away from production.
This happens all the time. The official order bank is not open or anything, but certain dealers will get allocation and they will approach past buyers to see if they are interested. I believe it, but will require pics and a ride along to have proof that it actually happens... :)

Chris

PS: That is truly one of the coolest cars that I have ever seen, even my father in law agreed and he is definitely not a Ford fan in any way. Very impressed, that car is a piece of artwork in the best way! Kudos to Ford for pulling it off, should be very popular!

I was offered my LE in April. 22nd to be exact. Wasn't built until 9/30 and it was built on 3rd production day.

Also, some dealerships are targe enough to know they'll get one at least, I'm sure.

Happens all the time.

My local Dodge store got an allocation for 2 SRT8 Challengers is the Spring of 2007 (a full year before they would hit the lots) and had them sold in 12 minutes.

You obviously have no idea how a rare/exotic is sold most of the time. Have a friend who purchased a Lamborghini Huracan befor they even released the name. Let alone what it looked like. All he knew at the time was that it was the replacement for the gallardo

Forget which Ferrari model it was, anyway was on business in Houston with time on my hands & I stopped by the Ferrari place to drool.

The dealer told me that the car on the floor was bought on a $25,000 deposit pre-order limited production allotment deal. Some of the folks who dropped the 25k early were getting offers of 75k to give up their place in line.

Pretty nice 12 month return on investment.

I'm sure your the end all and be all in your household but I'm pretty sure your not in the real world. Always a know it all in the bunch. Anyway, wasn't asking your opinion, just repeating the conversation. Maybe you get offered $200k vehicles on a regular basis but us normal folk don't. I'm almost certain the Ford dealer would not offer a vehicle he couldn't supply to one of his most important customers. On another note, stay in touch and I'll shoot you a pic of my Stang parked next to it when he gets it.
