Road and Track "Widmann did, however, tell us that the GT500’s block will actually make it into the GT350 once it’s in production."

This is going to be interesting and should give people more confidence in purchasing the gt350, and not worrying about the oil consumption or over heating.

From Road and Track " Consequently, the Voodoo block got new, longer bolts for the cylinder heads, new gaskets, additional cooling passages, and different seals. The cylinder heads themselves are modified to deal with the additional heat and pressure, too.

Makes me believe there will be a MY 20 GT350 now. I always kinda thought I’d be odd for Ford to make the subtle changes on the car for only a one year run..

Does that mean the GT500 heads could potentially fit on the GT350?

The way I read it, they will use the same block as the gt500, minus the supercharger.

Will GT350 be still FPC or CPC?

If the GT350 goes CPC, that will change the concept of the car. They may reuse the same block, but I bet the GT350's FPC stays in it.

The FPC has been a failure. Yes it is unique but the added complexity from the vibration control simply cost too much and caused all kinds of issues that they are dealing with. The fact that the race version has the CPC says it all IMO.

My thoughts exactly, with all the potential motor replacements. I dont think Ford is going to look at what the consumer's want, they are going to look at their bottom line number in profits vs loss.

The issues with the engine aren't related to the layout of the crankshaft.

What is the issue? Since no one at Ford is able to figure out .

What failed about it? They work great for most people. That's like saying the Coyote is a failure because some of them make a ticking sound when they run.

I would check out honeybadgers thread in the gt350 section. He has his motor out of his 350 which has about 12k of track miles. Motor looks pretty good. I think in fords pursuit to lighten the valve train on the voodoo somewhat compromised durability in that regard. For a manufacturer to not only do their first mass produced fpc v8 but also make it one of if not the largest takes big balls and I think in the grand scheme of this has been insanely successful.
