Sweet! Just my opinion, but I think the current GT350' s are pretty close to the same concept that created the original '65 / '66 GT350; A serious, balanced performance car that is at home on both the street and track.

As a caretaker of a 66 GT350 since 1987, and now also a 17 GT350, I totally agree. When I decided a few years ago to totally obliterate the budget and add a 2nd car, I thought long and hard on what that car would be...65-66 K-code Mustang, 69-70 Boss 302, 63-64 427 Galaxie, and S-197 GT500 all came to mind, plus a few others. Can't go wrong with any of those. But in the end, the current GT350 and it's completely unique VooDoo engine just totally intrigued me, and I have not been disappointed!

While there are a ton of differences as you would expect over 50+ years of technology improvements, IMO the cars have VERY similar personalities, there is a certain hard to explain mystique to both. The original GT350's have a strong history of owner's pushing them to the limits as intended. Same with the current GT350.

If I recall correctly I believe the new owner paid just under $1 million for Jackson's 1965 GT350 with the price end up being $962,500.

Good catch as there were a few gnomes running around Vancouver, Canada back in 1990.

This car originally came out of San Jose in 1985 and I ended up selling this car in 1991 to a fellow Mustang enthusiast who I understand still has my old car to this day.

Should have never let it go but had a terrific time with it for numerous years.

That K code engine was capable of revving up to ~7000 RPM which was pretty cool stuff back in the 80's for an American V8 as not many of my car buddies were shifting their cars up in that range some ~35 years ago.

I remember weighing it one time and it came in less than 3000# as it had a fiberglas hood, deck lid, fascia, bumper and very little interior as you can tell.
