Import and VAT equates to 24% of the TOTAL bill, that's 24% of the shipping costs as well.

That's how it works on parts, may differ on a whole car

Although numerically correct, it's not how duty and VAT is calculated.

(Invoice price + shipping + insurance) x 1.10 x 1.2 is the UK HMRC calculation for tariff code 87032490. The conversion from $ to ÂŁ is done on the day of conversion, not the day of invoice.

How it's calculated is by some sort of voodoo throw of a dice then see how the bones of a sacrificed goat falls, but for ease of calculation 24% is just about blob on :)

Enjoy your ride Mr

The IVA is not something I am worrying about at the moment, I have the car here on a 6 month temporary import and willbe running it on its Montana plates during that time. I could be lazy and ask Bill Shepherd to sort it for me, or just cheeky and ask them what they needed to do to their GT350.
I need to have a look at a RHD S550 to see the various differences. The rear indicators are one issue, as mine are sequential, I think this requires a modification to a module rather than a parts swap. The DLRs can be disconnected and beyond that I am unsure.

The front shark lights are fine, you don't need to disconnect
as for the rear I have a Duel Light system, switch under the steering wheel
Uk flashing amber for UK roads, Red sequential for shows and :D

Aka sequential until you see the police.

Mind you red flashing lights could confuse us british simpletons ;)! Flashing ambers probably less so with audi now roxking seqts.

Anyway i digress think we need a full stalkist of nicks weekend plans just so we can organise a meet that suits him and so we can all see the car...

Now you're just rubbing it in!

Edit: Don't know how much mileage you've put on it yet... but out of interest... what's the magnetic ride system like (good/bad) as one of the basics just about everyone seems to do on the standard S550 is change the suspension to sort out the floaty ride we get on our 'lesser' cars?

I have not driven a standard S550 so I can't make any comparisons, I have only driven around 50 miles on my local rads which are very bumpy, and a few miles on the A22 in the wet. It's certainly not floaty, and I had all the settings on softest. The testers in the states reckon it's the carbon fibre rims on the R that really make the difference.

How does it take those bumpy roads, is it firm, crashy or just glides in comfort?

Would be awesome if MY18 GT's get options such as 10-speed auto, magna ride as for me that would make the Mustang pretty much perfect. :)

The light blue plate in earlier pictures is a Montana plate, it's properly titled and not on dealer plates. The white/red plate is a UK trade plate, as I can't drive a US titled car on my trade policy for some reason. The trade plate trumps all others and is 100% legal for business use only. I have now arranged cover on the VIN and will be driving it on the Montana plate
