Its just how the math works out. We have only 1 allocation.
On the other board, there was a big dealer in New Orleans I believe that had 6 allocations, but they were not sure if 1 was even an R. He said he was going to try to order it as such, but didn't know if it would go through

I have heard the if you have 3, you can get 1 R, but I have also heard its lottery based, which each allocation earning you 1 spot in the lottery, so the chances of the larger dealers getting 1 or more is higher.:shrug:

I have seen a few mention this lottery but not once from a forum member that is employed by a dealer. Thus I am having a hard time placing any stock in this "lottery". If there is any truth to it I would sure like to hear from a forum member "in the know".

I guess it could be a two fold process much like the MY15s (some were sold directly to VIPs, the rest were allocated via lottery). I guess its possible certain sized dealers got the 3/1 type allocations (say top 200 or something) and perhaps the remaining cars were allocated via lottery. Completely guessing here, but would be very interesting to hear from those in the know.

Great point..I think we would all love to know how that is determined.

Another wrinkle in that theory. My dealer got ONE allocation for 2016 and I ordered a R. Granted we ordered it very early in the process. So how were they able to do that?
They can place an order for the R even if they don't have an allocation. It will never get pulled though.

Here is the deal, I am not sure how Ford determines how many total gt350's each dealer gets but what I do know is for every 3 Gt350's we get 1 R.

You are correct if they have NO allocation but that is not the case. In this case they have an allocation as I stated but made no distinction of a R or not. The R order under my name is showing "locked" in Ford's system which as explained to me that Ford has accepted the order but is awaiting vin assignment/production.

I would ask your dealer to email the rep to confirm the order, just to be safe.

In my case, they made it very clear their single allocation was a non-R.

I did.... they said the order was accepted.

My theory.....

It does make sense that the larger dealers who get more allocations can't make all of them R's thus the 3 to 1 ratio. But it also makes sense that Ford let dealers determine which they get a R or not for the dealers that only received ONE allocation. But of course that may be ONLY until all the R production has been reserved. Once reserved in the order system all the single allocation dealers were limited to non R's only.:ninja:

The "R"'s outside of the 3 to 1 formula are assigned by lottery.

Obviously I have no facts, but I really don't think that is the case. I also ordered from a small dealer, only 1 allocation, dealer was very clear it was a non-R allocation.

Otherwise all the small dealers would order Rs and the total production would be way more allowed. With 3000+ dealers nation wide, there are going to be a lot more single allocation dealers than multi-allocation dealers IMO. I can't imagine ford giving dealers the option when they have a fixed production target

What proof can you provide because so far from what I have seen that is just internet lore? Not one member on here that is associated with a dealer has mentioned this "lottery" from what I have seen.

When did you place your order? My point is what if they allowed that choice until the reservations were met .....then no longer allowed that choice?

With no proof, I'm going with the lottery theory for your circumstance. They were awarded 1 allocation, won the lottery and Ford said that's your allocation right there.

My dealer told me this as well.....the dealers that did not get an R were very upset...not sure how Ford handle this problem

Well...here I am mentioning it... My dealer... number 2 of 4 who committed to selling me a non "R" at MSRP or LESS. Has stated that his dealership was awarded via lottery an "R" allocation because he is only getting ONE non "R". I flat out asked how did he get an "R" allocation if he is only getting one "R" and his reply was we were the only one in this NE area awarded both an "R" and a GT by lottery. They are only getting one of each. and a non "R" for both 2016 and 2017. One of those has my deposit in on it...which I may be withdrawing since I already have two other deposits. One closer to home for MSRP for a Track Pack and one a bit of a drive away on a Tech Pack UNDER MSRP.

So once again if anyone wants the non "R" I'm about to get my deposit back on... let the Mod know to forward on your inquiry.

My limit is 2 and I really don't see the value in an "R". So ... there ya go
