I have said this a bunch of times, but a Base 350 (no TP) will not be that much faster around a track than an SS.

It prob won't be vs the Camaro with mag suspension.

This will confirm a GT500 is coming. The camaro next year is getting the 640 hp engine. The only way to stay competitive would force ford to bring back the 500. 2018 is a year late but it's coming. By then a used 350 and R would be a steal. Just saying.

What will be the resale value on a 5yr old Camaro SS? I would say about $10,000K.

What will be the resale value on a 5yr old Shelby GT350? I would say about $35,000K.

Just price out a 67 Camaro SS vs 67 Shelby GT350

When Ford confirms it, it is confirmed. Not when a forum speculation discussion is cranked up to 11.

Oh Yeah, never really was any doubt about that one. The 350 is cool and all but not the answer in the ongoing Pony Car wars. Look for a next generation GT500 that runs 11 flat or better out of the box. Bleak future for the 350 once that beast hits the streets.

Why? I'm not ordering the car because of a 1/4 mile time, a 0-60 time, a Nurburgring time, skid pad numbers, horsepower numbers or number of cupholders. I'm buying it because I really like the car and will have a blast driving it.

If you joined just to jump in the 350 forum with comments about what is wrong with the car, I'd like to recommend the Log Out button, top right.

I personally prefer the purpose of the GT350 vs. the GT500 mantra. Two cars, two purposes.

Agree, partly... The 350R is the answer to Ford's question of "Can we build a Mustang that can spar with European makes?"

It answered whether or not Ford could win the ponycar roadcourse war, of which it did handily.

It will take a 500 to win the drag ponycar wars, as it has in the past.

Huh? While resale value has a lot of variables (condition, mileage, etc), those numbers are way off...

2010+ SS's are 16-20K+ depending on mileage.

GT350's closest price predictor would be the Boss 302 which would be $30-35K+ depending on mileage.

I would imagine the GT350 will have a much better value retention, similar to the 2013-2014 GT500's now and I am not disputing that the GT350 will hold its value much better than an SS, but 10K for a 5 year old SS is way too low. Then again, 35K for a five year old GT350 might be too low, too.

To continue with your analogy, the pony car war is being fought on several fronts.

The GT350 is focused and optimized for road course use and fun street driving. It has already been shown that the GT350 is terrific on the road course and easily wins the "pony car war" on that front. Your critique is not applicable.

The future GT500 will fight a different battle. I agree it will probably be a high-horsepower beast.

Really? Seems like more than a few here agree with me. Looks like you are the one with the busted balls. Possibly it is you that should be punching that "log out" tab!

I liked the GT500 and thought about buying it, but once the details about the GT350 engine came out I felt I HAD to buy it.

Really? I think you need to look into your 8 ball again and check that statement again.

The GT350 has an engine that is very rare these days, especially from a domestic brand. Never before have we had a chance to get a high revving, naturally aspirated V8 (maybe the LS7 would count, but with a 7000 RPM redline, it is really only high-revving for a pushrod).

If/when a GT500 arrives, what do you think the engine will be? I am 100% certain it will have forced induction, which means there will be no point to an 8000+ redline. Yes, the car will likely be quite a bit faster due to the extra power, but in terms of feel...? I'll take the NA engine TYVM.

Also, the GT500 will probably weigh 150 lbs more, which could change the handling feel quite a bit.

IMO there will be plenty of interest in the GT350 even after the GT500 arrives. The Boss was certainly in demand even when the GT500 was available.
