Ford should have put them on the left side. Easier to use while driving. Especially with a manual.
I don't get this...when you drive a manual you should not be resting your hand on the shifter anyways so why the need to adjust the stereo for the 1/2 second it takes you to shift?

Really? Ok. Trust me it would be better especially when you drive like a pimp! At least it's not as bad as my BMW with volume on one side and change station on the other. WTF is that!

Yeah I wanted to be a fly in the wall in that engineering meeting. All the thought that goes into their cars and that detail is fumbled.

I wonder if Euro RHD models have it on the right side as well. Would work better for them.

So, reading back it's looking like automatics will be able to get the paddle shifters transferred over to the new wheel right? Would like to get an order in before any possible price increases and want to be sure.

I don't mind the radio controls on the wheel, never use them.

Welp, now the wait begins - I put my order in so we shall see it will work with an auto setup, maybe by then someone will have a paddle shifter upgrade out and I can do both at the same time.

I may be able to test it out.

I have an auto and manual but was planning to use the wheel on the manual.

The manual car is still at on3 so I will ask my Ford tech to see if it will work on the auto.
I am not sure I want to install it on the auto since that is a premium with Recaro leather and not sure if it will match(The manual is a non Recaro base).

I may go ahead though and do it IF it will work ONLY if I am sure I will be able to get another one for the manual car.

I also contacted" Mustang guy" about "beefing" it up before install.
The amount he quoted is a little more than I am willing to spend in addition to the cost of the wheel.

I had thought of sending him the stock wheel (off the manual car) to "beef up" after I swapped the GT 350 wheel and then installing that on the auto car.

That way I am only paying for the cost of the upgrade. I may then be able to sell(or give) him the spare wheel I end up with ,for him to use a core so he can have one available for anyone to buy with a core charge until they send back theirs.

Yeah but then the controls for the dash and controls for the radio would be crossed if they did that. The radio controls are on the right because the radio is on your right. Dash controls are on the left because the dash display is to the left of the radio. If radio controls were on the left then youd have to use your right hand to control it normally and your left hand to control it on the wheel, keeping it positioned the same way it is in the car makes it easier to control for the average person

Yeh I think the design was that you already have 1 hand on the wheel when playing with the radio controls which you push more than the gauge display arrows generally. Probably done for safety issues so you dont go to thumb on the left Dpad for the radio and loose control of the wheel.

I was made aware of another company that is selling these.

They are also backorderd but was informed that all orders placed today will be protected with current pricing. Since tomorrow is a new month, and Ford has seen the fenzy on this wheel, there may be a good chance the price for August may be adjusted higher.

Either case:

KIT - STEERING WHEEL - Ford (FR3Z-3600-AC)

  • List Price: $242.00
  • You Save: $82.28 (34% off)
  • Sale Price: $159.72

Ask for Mike R. and tell him which forum you saw this

Out of curiosity, cuz I'm new to the Mustang scene, how likely is Ford to raise the price on the wheel knowing it's in demand or just in short supply? Have they done this in the past with other in demand OEM parts?
