Hi Guys,

So I have to admit, I feel a little stupid for not knowing that the Performance Package had wider tires on the back until 2 weeks after I bought the car! Anyhow, my questions is this... is there any difference between the front and rear rims? Or, is the difference simply that the rear tires are wider?

The reason why I am asking is that I want to know if I can put the same size tires on these rims and be able to rotate them? I'll run the stock tires until they are junk, but for the next set, I'll probably go with something a little more durable and in the same size so that I can rotate them.

I believe the rears are 275 and the fronts are 245. What with would you guys recommend if sticking with one width, a 255?

Thanks in advance for any help!

fronts are 255 and you would need a 5mm spacer on the front. I wouldn't!

Yes, the rear rim is 9.5" in the back and the front is 9".

You can put the front rim in the back no problem.
You cannot put the rear rim in the front without about a 5-8mm spacer.

There are a few people that have swapped rims, one person getting the fronts, one person getting the rears. The fronts look fine in the back so it's not a huge deal.

Why would you buy a performance vehicle to put a 255 size tire on the rear? Even the 275 is not enough meat in a 435 HP car. I would never think of doing this but to each their own. The rear rims are 9.5" wide and yes you should be able to put a 255 tire on a 9.5" rim. Just have to make sure you keep the 9.5" rims in the rear and the smaller rims in the front. The rear rims can not be put in the front they will not clear probably on turns unless you run a spacer.

I think it would look stupid to have wider tires in the front even if you add spacers to make it possible.

You could trade your backs for someone else's fronts. There is probably someone out there who would like to have a square wider setup.

But the chassis tuning does take into account the different grip between the stock front and rear tires. It might not be much but at the absolute limits neither all fronts or all backs will be as good as stock without some other minor tweaks. Won't make a bit of difference on the street.

Hey guys, thanks for all the quick responses. Now that I've confirmed that the front and rear rims are indeed different, I'll be sticking with the factory recommended tire size all the way around. Thanks again for the help!

A similar question....

Can larger tires be put on the PP wheels?
Ie going to a 275 in the front and a slightly larger in the rear, or would larger wheels be required?

Yes you can put larger tires on the PP wheels. I have one set with 275s all round, and you could go a little wider in the back if you wanted to.

It works pretty well with tires with stiff sidewalls. You might notice more of a degradation in turn-in feel if you're running tires with really soft sidewalls like the Contentental DWS.

You see the larger tires bulge on the narrow rims and you may notice a little more squirm as you start to corner and the tires flex. Ideally, you want a wheel width that's a little wider than your tires, not narrower. Getting them slightly stretched on the wheel is a little better for handling feel (see the GT350 for example), however if you don't have the budget for new wheels, then running larger tires on narrow wheels is better than nothing, and lots of guys do it.

There is a difference PP wheels are the following

Front: 19x9
Rear: 19x9.5

Tires

255/40/19
275/40/19

Members are putting the rears upfront with a 275 and or 285 it works, but you need a 5 mm spacer upfront for caliper clearance then. Nothing big but its needed.
