I'm really not impressed but maybe that has to do with the car weighing 3900lbs.
Not impressed with what? Your GTPP doesn't weigh 3900 lbs.

To the OP: I'd order to get exactly what I wanted. It'll be worth the wait.

you can actually get the parts and install them on afterwards, they're not unique to the trim.

The GT Performance Package includes:

• 19" X 9" (F) 19” X 9.5” (R) Ebony Black-Painted Aluminum Wheels
• 255/40R19 (F) 275/40R (R) Summer Only Tires
• Brembo™ Six-Piston Front Brake Calipers with Larger Rotors
• "Engine Turn" Aluminum Instrument Panel
• Gauge Pack (Oil Pressure and Vacuum)
• Heavy-Duty Front Springs
• K-Brace
• Larger Radiator
• Spoiler Delete
• Strut-tower Brace
• Unique Chassis Tuning
• Upsized Rear Sway Bar
• Unique Stability Control, EPAS & ABS Tuning
• TORSEN® Differential with 3.73 Axle Ratio

Basically they're there to improve handling of the car and allow you to push it harder at the limit.
IMHO, the GTPP is worth it just for the Brembo brakes, the larger radiator and the Torsen diff. Everything else is nice to have gravy.

GT Manual 3705/GT Auto 3891 (Who buys a PP in Auto? Does it even come in Auto???) Per Ford Website.

http://www.ford.com/cars/mustang/specifications/view-all/

3,825 lb (54/46%) Per Motor Trend

http://www.motortrend.com/cars/ford/mustang/2016/2016-ford-mustang-gt-first-test-review/

Seems like quite the variance here. Still a fairly heavy car though.

^^^Totally worth it. Don't forget the Recaro seats too!

OP: I recently went to a track day where there were 5 S550's (That was pretty cool). 4 out of the 5 were in the same group too.
2 were PP's and 2 were not. The other PP and I were usually near the front of the pack. The 2 non PP cars did not have nearly
the same on-track demeanor or purpose. However the driver is the biggest performance mod next to tires and brakes.

If that type of performance is not a big deal for you, pass it up. If it is, go for it!

You can always add the parts later as others have said. Hell, I believe the ford racing suspension kit is basically lowering springs with PP struts and shocks. The brembo brakes are available through ford racing as well, but if you're not going to track the car, the stock 14" rotor, 4 piston calipers are more than enough.
There are actually two different Ford Racing suspension kits for the Mustang. One is the essentially the PP with lowering springs (Street Pack) and one is in an entirely different league than the PP (Track Pack).

Street Pack:

https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-FR3A-MA

Track Pack:

https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-FR3A-M8

If you know where to look, you can find the Track Pack for almost the same price as the Street:

http://www.levittownfordsupercenter.com/mobile/ford-racing-mustang-handling-pack-track-p-3253.html

The FRPP Track Handling Package is much better than the Performance Pack suspension. There are topics floating around on the Suspension forum showing substantial decreases in track times for those who have upgraded to it. That said, the PP is a terrific bargain for what you get. The Brembo brakes and the larger radiator alone are worth it in my opinion, unless you want a blank slate to mod like some us who buy Base models.

To me the PP was easily worth it for what you get. I also knew that I'd be modding the suspension anyway, so the PP was a great place to start. The parts in my signature made a noticeable difference ripping around the turns and the wheel hop issue. It handles like a go-kart, so now it's time for more horsepower mods.

I had to have AT but you can't get PP with that.
We upgraded to Brembos and later a forum friend kindly gave me his stock PP suspension goodies when he upgraded to aftermarket.
I do a lot of cruising through remote-ish twisty areas and am just thrilled to bits at the improved handling. :D

Have not yet had the pleasure of trying it on a track, must be really amazing at high speeds ;)

You're saying that when we buy the PP we're only getting the 'Street Pack'?

I always thought the GT PP fully loaded was in the low 3800 range.

Regardless, I love the handling of this car. It doesn't really feel any heavier than my 94 GT and handles better than my BMW 525iT did.

5 years ago this chassis would be considered world class. We get too caught up sometimes with magazine track times and forget how lucky we are.

For those looking for a track performer, the aftermarket is always an options. If you have the cash to burn on brakes and tires (which you should if you are tracking the vehicle), you shouldn't have any issue spending $$$ on very minor suspension and tire upgrades that will make this chassis really shine.

Mine is my daily driver, and I love every second I'm in the drivers seat. While it may not be setting record lap times, It handles excellent for what I need it for...and is quite comfortable over imperfect roads.

The suspension components in the Performance Pack are *exactly* the same as the ones in the Ford Racing Street Pack, the sole exception being the springs. In the Performance Pack they are ordinary progressive springs, in the Street Pack they are 1" lowering springs. Every other part is the same.

You can't get the PP in auto.

I didn't know it was an option for a convertible PP?

Take a 45mph curb at 105mph instead, and you'll have an idea. ;)

Trust me, I am aware of the actual weight of these cars. C&D scaled their fully loaded 2015 GTPP and it weighed between 3810-3815lbs. Had a sticker price of ~46k. My point in quoting him was these don't weigh 3900lbd, the fastback that is.

It is or was $2500 for these options. It is worth it. Price out tires, larger radiator, wheels (if you like them), the Torsen, and 6 piston breaks. If you do it yourself it will cost more money.

I think the stage 1 handling kit from Steeda is close to 1K. But, up to you! I enjoy the 3.73s going in and out of corners. Down shifting this car is great fun especially when you have exhaust coupled with it!

Edit: And, yes, the regular GT feels floaty. Drive the two and decide what you like.

It wasn't available in the convertible in 2015, but in 2016 and 2017 it is. At least in manual. That's one of the reasons I'm happy to have not bought a 2015 a year or two ago.

go for new shocks like the Konis first for the PP, completely changed my car. I did BMR springs since they were cheap and i was taking stuff apart already but the spring rates arent much different than PP
