The report reveals plans for the majority of FCA's brands, but the most interesting bit of information is an all-wheel-drive model for the Dodge Challenger, which is being referred to as the GT AWD. Mopar unveiled the Challenger GT AWD Concept at SEMA last year as aconcept, but it looks like the idea stuck. The vehicle is set to make its debut this fall and will lead the way for a wide-body, Hellcat-powered version that will be released in 2017. That model will be called the Challenger ADR. The entire Challenger lineup will be redesigned in 2018, which includes switching over to the lighter Giorgio platform - the same one that underpins the Alfa Romeo Guilia

It's a good concept!

Considering how the T/A was announced at the 2015 SEMA show, and then around a year later it was released for production..I suspect we'll see the same with this.

Yah totally. AWD is a nice option to have..especially on cars like this...maybe it's a sign of the way the industry will go.

The Fusion 2.7 sport is AWD...can we think about a Mustang in the future S650 with AWD...especially a mid range model like the 2.3/2.7 down the road? I mean if you can get a Mustang that can handle with AWD that would be pretty sweet and it would be a year round vehicle.

Copy and paste what I wrote in the other thread:

I actually rallied them against this earlier this year when I was invited to a panel discussion. I do realize though I am of the "old school muscle car RWD" fan club. They talked heavily about using a very nice torque vectoring AWD system, though. Let's just hope they don't do the other gimicky things they talked about, like "auto donut mode" and their idea of easily removable weight reduction at the track (bluetooth speakers, carpet, and front sway bar). Their windsheild track projection HUD was a cool concept, though. I am trying to think what else caught my eye...

Nothing wrong with old school but the industry is moving this way and some have been like this for a while...personally I'm 110% for this in a Mustang. Would love it and it would then compete for sales even more with cars like the Audi S5/RS5 if it had AWD.

Yah those gimicky things are stupid. Just save those for the RWD manuals.

Agreed - would love an AWD Mustang, its truly the only thing I miss from my '12 SHO (tuned to 435bph). With AWD I could smoke just about anything off the line - including S550 GT's. :ford:

Make it RWD biased like some of the Euro's do and you have the best of both worlds - RWD and the AWD when you really need the traction.

I could see Ford doing an AWD EB 3.5 in an S550/650.

The Chrysler 200S V6 AWD was rear bias..and it was a very fun car to drive..

If they do make it AWD, but RWD bias with AWD only coming in when needed, that'll make for a fun car.

Since the 300 5.7L v8 which is made in the same plant comes with an AWD option. this probably wouldn't be too difficult to swap it over to the challenger.

It's also about 4400lbs...It would make for an amazing commuter car in snow.

I know for sure there is no Alpha based Challenger or Challenger replacement on the near horizon.

From what they were pushing, I would not be surprised if it is an all-new torque vectoring AWD system.

The redesign is based on the Alfa Romeo chassis.
