its the same as running a mesh grill. I doubt anything would happen at all.

Did my own grill delete, but now I am adding mesh both for appearance and protection. I did see a 2-3 degree decrease in IAT with the delete.

Luckily I think the grill delete is ugly in the first place, so I don't have to worry about the pros and cons. I imagine that having so much air end up in the engine bay is not going to be so hot for drag and highway fuel efficiency.

Is there a foam sealing strip at the rear of the hood? Don't have my 2016 yet, so I honestly don't know.

I removed the rear sealing strip from my T-Bird. The hood used to shake/vibrate at about 120 and it bothered me. Once it was off, the hood quit shaking. It gave the air a path to escape... created an opening of about 3/8" across the entire rear of the hood for hot air to exit. Engine compartment also stayed cooler. Heat didn't knock you over when you opened the hood after a good thrashing. It DID make the A/C work harder when taking in outside air from the cowl though!

Not sure I'd try it without a set of hood lift struts to help stabilize the hood. With just the prop rod, you've only got the latch in front and the hinges in the back.

That is all...

Went from open to hexagonal mesh, colored to match my wheels. I prefer a bit of protection.

They have a good video on DIY grill delete an mesh install. Got the flat black so I could paint over it. Very nice mesh, much better than the normal expanded metal cheap stuff. I picked the Goop Auto Adhesive up at Home Depot for about $5 a tube.

I'm with you man! The front end looks so empty without the Pony. Plus, I run quite a few road courses so I need to reduce drag where it's not needed.

this is why I am buying that mesh
Already ordered it... lol.

I plan on putting a nice intercooler behind the grille, but for now I'll get some protection in there.

A couple of obeservation's I wanted to Chime in on. I am currently running the 727 Roush Stage 2 Package on my 2016 GT. One thing I noticed with this delete is that anything upward of 160 MPH is SCARY. The hood feels as if it could come of at any moment. At 140 MPH you begin to see the hood wanting to lift. IMO I feel as if the extra flow is DEFINITELY hurting the car at big MPH.
