So I've got my Borla ATAKs from my old mustang and they've just been sitting in the garage. I posted them up on Craigslist and no takers. Well nobody that wants to pay more than $100, cheap bastards.

Anyhow I saw a couple guys put the GT500 mufflers from 11-14 on the S550: so I thought why not the Borlas. Saves me 600-800 on any decent axleback. A performance muffler shop said they could install them for $150

What do you guys think? I was thinking of adding an H pipe down the road if the sounds isn't quite to my liking.

Head over to a good muffler shop and they should be able to make it work. Just remember to disconnect the battery's ground so nothing gets fried from a bad ground. You can always add a H pipe later on if you want more sound. When you're done, take your mufflers, resonator and hardware back home with you to be safe.

Sounds like a win win to me. You clean up some old mufflers laying around and save some money at the same time.

Disconnect the ground to cut and weld some new mufflers in?

From what I remember in the gt500 muffler write up there was some massaging that needed to be done for the mufflers to clear. Not that I'm trying to discourage you it'll still be cheaper than buying new ATAKs just saying there won't be much left afterwards besides old mufflers that wouldn't be worth the headache to have sitting around at home, leave 'em there if they'll keep 'em haha

How much are you selling your ATAK mufflers for? I have the Borla Sport exhaust and was thinking of swapping out the mufflers.

It's not as simple as just switching out the mufflers. You need to have a shop cut and weld everything since they aren't for a 15-16.

Aside from the hangers, can't he just cut the piping off the muffler end in similar fashion as if it was a universal muffler and just weld it on?
