Going to 19x10 square - looking for tires

I hope I've come to the right place for some opinions ;)

I'm going go to a 19 x 10 square setup (+40 all around) on my 2015 GT PP. The car has Steeda coilovers.

The tire choices I'm considering are:

MPSS 275/40/19 ~$1150
Indy 500 275/40/19 ~$634

Pilot Sport 4S 285/35/19 ~$1282
Indy 500 285/35/19 ~$794
Potenza RE-11 285/35/19 ~$1282

I do an occasional track day at Road America and the car is not a DD. Mostly it's ripping around country roads but I want it to be as good as it can be, within reason.

I'm looking for opinions on which way to go. The Indy 500 are appealing because they're essentially half the price. And all else being equal, does it make sense to go to 285s?

I'm on the stock PP wheels with stock size NT555 G2 now.

RE-11s are not bad daily / track use tires. Not the newest/grippiest for track days, but they should hold up well compared to some others. That's what I'd pick for a dedicated street/track tire if I was in the market and planning more than a handful of track days a year.

Don't use MPSS on the track unless you have adequate camber. Factory settings are not enough, and you run the risk of chunking them if you run them too hard, too early in their life. Once they age a bit or if you have good track camber they should hold up fine. MPSS (and MP4S) should last quite a while on the street. Longer than your average tire, which helps offset the cost. They cost more, but they last longer.

Honestly Michelin is phasing out the MPSS in favor of it's replacement MP4S, so I'd go with the 4S unless you find a steal of a deal on the MPSS.

285/35 is a good size.

If you want something stickier for a weekend toy, look at the RE71R in 285/35. Its loud and hard, but the grip is a significant step up from the MPSS. Fun, but not as good for daily use in standing water and would last half as long. I love that tire.

Agreed with [MENTION=19933]NightmareMoon[/MENTION], RE-11 on 285/35R19 or PS4S in the same size (I believe the RE-11 will still hold an edge in grip and response, though).

MPSS also has 285/40. I've been thinking about this setup with same rim size. 10.5" tread width and very close to stock diameter

What wheels are you using?

with the ET 40 you can do the 275/40/19 or the 285/35/19

I have used the RE11 tires on my GT350 they are solid in choice.

The Conti tires do compare to the MPSS now and their life and wet performance is spot on as well.

Want really cheap grip check out Federal RS-RR in 275 35 19, that's the largest size they make atm.
