I saw some posts from folks saying that they shift to 2nd from a stop and shift to D after they launch. Has anyone used the feature that toggles you from manual shift to automatic shifting when in S mode? I'm not trying to be a smart-ass, just wondering if it is something anyone uses or is it just me. Just hold the left and right paddles simultaneously and it goes back to auto shifting. Works in any gear at any speed. Took me some getting use to since it will downshift/upshot if not done exactly simultaneously.

It works in D mode as well though it is a moot point since it toggles by itself.

You only need the right one :D; try it. That's pretty much standard in all auto cars equipped with a regular automatic transmission (with a torque converter) with paddles, and no specific manual mode, by the way. If there's a manual mode gate, tranny stays in manual mode (that's what that gate is for, after all). That's when you're in D mode, and use a paddle to temporarily get into manual mode. The tranny usually reverts back to auto after a few seconds by iself. But if you want to do it sooner, or just get in D mode while on a downhill or something (where it doesn't revert to auto when coasting), just pull the right paddle for a little bit and it reverts back to auto.

Similarly, in many DCT equipped vehicles, you hit N when pulling both paddles at the same time, like Ferraris, Porsches, etc. In Porsche GT cars equipped with PDK (a DCT), pulling both paddles activates the clutches, like if you were depressing the clutch in a manual car. On my ex-Porsche with PDK, pull both paddles and you hit N. And to go back to gear, you pull the right paddle. On Ferraris, you also need to pull the right paddle to engage in D after reversing, or starting the car.

What I miss that this car doesn't have is the downshift hold for maximum acceleration. My Mercedes had that. Although it was the only way to safely deal with the throttle lag that car would insist upon.
