How many people have them in their cars? Do you use them all the time? Where do you place them and how do you attachment?

I use to run one all the time when I rode my Harley, mainly because there are so many idiots driving around my area from TJ. The idiots didn’t follow any of the driving laws. I figured if I got into an accident, it would be nice to have video so it wasn’t a "he said she said" situation.

Now I'm thinking about putting my go pro in my car. Just wondering if anyone else does…

I sometimes mount mine on the trunk using the suction cup mount. Makes for an interesting angle

I just got one actually. haven't tested it out yet but I look forward to learning how to use it. It came with 2 mounts already, I will probably see how it fits behind the rear view mirror. Also might buy one of those suction cup things for some different views.

i would recommend a nice dash cam over a gopro if you are doing it for those reasons...that way dash cam always records and erases itself vs gopro won't.

however if you want to make videos then yes the gopro. I have a 3 black and a 4 black and use them to make a living basically.

Go with an actual dash cam, I just bought the blackvue 650 which includes front and rear cams. Been too cold lately though for me to actually install it. Those are cdn prices, so would be almost 20% less in usd these days.

Slightly off topic, but do you have any suggestions for getting a good exhaust sound from an externally mounted gopro? I always end up with a bunch of wind noise. Wondering if micing the exhaust would help and if you have any suggestions on ways to do that.

Foam over the mic should dull some of the wind noise.

Every time I've used mine on the 15 I've put it on the windshield

Just did my first test video in my truck today. Anyone that has used one, why did it split my trip into 3 different files? It maxed each file out at like 1.8 GB?

External microphone is the best option. I originally used an Olympus 53s stereo mic and it gave good results, but I just got an Audio Technica shotgun mic that has some awesome results in YouTube videos. Will post up some examples in a bit.

maybe 3.8G ?

max file size of FAT32 is 4GB

could be some issue unless you format in camera
