Glass attack

Proud owner of a new 22 Ecoboost coupe - today just 10 days old and 320 miles on the clock.

This morning (Christmas Eve) my neighbor knocks on my front door and says "your Mustang broken glass". I walk outside to find the drivers door glass still in place but shattered into a million pieces.

Yesterday the weather changed to 40's and rain to 5 above freezing in about 5 hours. I parked my wife's car in the garage and left the mustang in the driveway. Zero chance on vandelism.

Dealer is closed today so I called Ford customer service. Asked about a warrantee claim for a defective part and their answer was to file an insurance claim due to weather.

I say the glass was defective. The car was left the factory two months ago and today was the first freezing cold day it has seen. Has anyone else seen this?

If there’s no evidence of impact, it should be covered by warranty. That is not outside the normal use in expected environmental conditions. It sounds like it may be “complicated” getting the dealer or ford to agree on that based on all the posts about random things and warranty coverage that I have seen on here.

I would take very hood and hi-res pictures of everything to prove there was no attempted break in and/or other intervention that could have caused the breakage.

It's going to be a tough battle with Ford for glass breakage unless beyond any doubt it was due to manufacturer defect.

It sounds like stress cracking on the glass from the sudden temperature change. Ever put cold water on a hot casserole dish?(Don't ask how I know). I've seen similar things on front windshields. It's not necessarily defective glass.
If you have glass coverage, it should cover it.
