Glare Strip? Keep or not

It's in the 100-120 degree range every day this week here in Vegas, so I couldn't wait another minute to get the car tinted. I went with a Nanotech Tint from Solar-guard. It has amazing, and I mean amazing heat rejection. You can't feel any heat coming though the window, and due to this my AC barely has to work anymore. I decided against getting the front window tinted and instead got a glare strip across the top windshield. I'm not sure I like the glare strip though. It's so dark that it reduces my field of vision. It does however help with the sun, and make the car feel like a cockpit. The tint shop said they would replace the glare strip with a full window tint if I decided the glare strip wasn't working out.

So what do you guys think...Keep or replace?

I like it. Wish I could do the same here in VA, but alas the laws are different. Ultimately, if it makes you more comfortable and you don't mind the look yourself, keep it on.

If you think your view is limited with that upper strip, it will be worse at night with a full tint.

I've heard VA has some pretty strict tint regulations, that's too bad. It's a toss up for me right now. I think I'll live with it for a while and see how it goes.

Personally I like it. I would do the same but in Tx the strip has to be above the as-1 line, meaning the strip would be so narrow it would be useless, so I just wear sunglasses instead. As long as it isn't causing too much of a visibility issue, I say keep it. If you just looking for heat rejection then I'd go full windshield with something like 3m Crystalline window film or llamar air 80 film. My 09' GTR had air 80 on the windshield when I bought it, but took it off as it was not installed correctly, looked and worked well though.

Two Questions - Where did you get your tint done and how much. Also, You don't happen to live in a Lennar community somewhere near Ft Apache / Blue Diamond? Your garage looks identical to mind except I have a two car.

Identical as in I have the same water softener hookups and drip meter.

We actually live in a new Woodside home right off of Russel and 215. So we're not far from each other. I had the tint done at DC Auto just a few blocks away. I've tinted about 5 cars, and this place was probably the best. They even got the tint perfectly adhered to the dot matrix. It cost me $350, but that was their top of the line product. You can get ceramic for a $100 less, and non ceramic for another hundred less than that.

I would think about doing that here in CA - I only drive this car in good weather/daytime mostly, so that could really help

Keep it. Looks good anyway as a contrast against the silve paint, along with your dark tint, PP wheels, and black 5.0 badge.

DI would trim it off 3/4" from the two end then the middle trim off 1/2" first to see if it help before replace with tint strip.

My Magnetic GT gets so effing hot in this heat that really I want one of these myself. Personally, I can't really see it causing any safety issues. Keep it!

I went with the glare strip also and hate it, it's right at my eye level, doesn't do much as far as I am concerned and blocks the ford logo, haven't had the nerve to remove it yet though.

In most states full windshield tint is highly illegal, please consult with a professional before making that decision.

Why not both? I have a full windshield IR film (80% VLT) and a 5% VLT strip at the top. Love it.

I opted for the full windshield and it keeps the interior much cooler. 70% ceramic tint on the front with 25% on the rest of the windows. After letting the tint cure for a week I decided not to get the strip at the top since it wasn't needed. I had paid for it in advance but got a refund instead.

Looks about an inch or 2 too thick ... figure out how much needs to be cut from the bottom edge and see if they can do that.
