I am looking at replacing the oil pump gears and sprocket on my '19 Bullitt which I installed a Whipple stage 1 on last month,

In getting ready to do the install I've looked at videos, pdfs, etc. I also went ahead and bought the Helm Ford shop manual for the 2019 Mustang.

In reviewing the information, they state to remove the oil pan. However I have heard that all that is necessary is to drop the oil pan just enough to clear the tube.

For those of you that have done this, can you just remove the pan bolts and lower the pan the necessary distance to clear removing the pump? Do you have to raise the engine up, i.e. loosen or remove the engine mount bolts?

I know the '18 and up are different than the gen 2.

Any help is welcome!

Looks like if you loosen the forward pan bolts you can get the tube loose and reuse the gasket.

There is a good YouTube video on replacing the oil pump gears on a 2018 Mustang GT (as I recall) by VMP Performance. Search YouTube and you should find it.

Also, how did you go about purchasing the Helm service manual? I looked into purchasing one myself and ended up at a Ford Service website that wanted about $29 (can’t remember the exact amount) for 72 hr online access. A month’s access was very expensive. I wondered if one could purchase the 72 hr access and then print out the needed manual pages for a particular repair - such as replacing the powdered metal oil pump gears? Thanks for any advice you can give me on purchasing a shop manual.

Here is the install video. Pretty well put together.

I haven’t ever purchased one from Helm Ford like the OP but I have had good success getting them off eBay.

Not this specific seller. I usually look around and find one of up for auction at a fraction of the price.

Oh BTW your computer must have windows 3.1 or higher. :cwl:

I purchased the cd from Helm and a Ford tech called me to assist with the install. It's very complete. $212 with taxes and shipping.

The VMP video is good but since it's doing gen 2 Coyote, it does not apply to the question about the 18 and up oil pan which Ford says you need to remove. Removing the oil pan according to the Ford manual requires you to drop the k frame.

Back to the question of can you lower the oil pan sufficiently without raising the engine or other stuff. Is there enough room that just removing the bolts for the oil pan and lowering it is sufficient?

What’s the verdict?
