Gears with Roush SC

My car is GT PP with 3.73 gears. I've never driven a mustang newer than my '05 until now but these gears are already short w/o SC and I am thinking I might wanna get longer legs to make better use of the boost being generated from the SC. I think switching to 3.55 might not even be with the cost/effort and am leaning towards 3.31's but thought I would ask for help.

I had 3:55 gears with Whipple SC on the '05 and it wasn't too bad but this new 6 speed is a different animal and I am unsure what gears will be the best for this setup. I will not track this car and probably will never drag it but can't rule it out once or twice. Basically I just like the power of the SC for everyday use.

Will these be too long? Should I stick with 3.73? What do you guys think?

I agree, if your pushing that much power, having longer gears will help you stay in your power range longer. From my experience I'd go from 6 to a 5 spd in previous cars.

Shorter gears might be better from a track, but not a drag strip depending what your use will be.

Nah. I'm gonna do it too. Just try the 3.73s with the SC before paying for a different gear.

But I agree if you are going to change them go lower than 3.55.

I agree, I will definitely wait and try the 3.73 for a bit before I swap. This car lights them up easily now without the SC I'm betting I won't even be able to spell traction once the Roush is in with the 3.73 gears.

3.31 at least, 3.15 would be better. This is what guys from 2011+ have been doing with PD blowers.

Here's the thing, I have to have my car on the Ford computer to find out what gears are in the tune to be selected. I need to make sure the gears I pick are selectable in the tune. Not sure how tall I can select from. I believe the 3.31's are selectable but don't know about 3.15.

Keep the 3.73. At low end your rpm will be quick but top end it will be fine. On street or track.
