Every now and then I find my gas tank cover open . At first I thought it was me not closing it after pumping gas. But it is not that. Just leaning against the car, putting the cover on---I think is opening it. The clasp holding is not very secure. Now I know no one should lean against the car but I am surrounded by idiots

There is no clasp. The door is spring loaded and the only thing is holding it open after you press on it is this spring loaded road that extends and retracts when you press on it.
Maybe yours is bad not holding it's place?
Some people have reported that the door would not stay shut because of bad spring.

I've had mine pop open a few times and I know I shut it. Really wish they would have had a locking door instead.
