What is amusing is that some of you still think oil prices are down to US politics.

Oil prices are high globally, where your politics are irrelevant.
Hello; There you go again missing main points. There surely are other factors involved in higher fuel prices. There are of course the embargos of Russian oil restricting supply to some degree. However, the fuel prices in the USA were on the rise for over a year before the Russian oil embargoes started.

The USA was, before the pandemic debacle, producing supplies enough for export. That extra amount no longer makes it to the world market and in addition makes the USA need to import some amount.

After the Russian invasion of Ukraine things indeed got worse in terms of world supply and made supply issues worse. It may be most folks think refusing to buy Russian oil is the thing to do in terms of showing support for the Ukrainians. That refusal to use Russian oil is in fact a policy decision. Happens to have been done by several countries in addition to the USA, but still policy decisions which directly have affected supply.
Whether it was policies internal to the USA or several countries making policy decisions at least some of the current rise in prices are due directly to such policy decisions.

Here in the USA fuel prices rose steadily beginning in January 2021. Well before Russia's thing. Just before the pandemic edicts and lockdowns started the world economy was humming along with plenty of demand and much lower fuel prices than currently.

This thread title is one for the books. The consequences of easy money policies have finally caught up with us and the hard truth is that unless this country can get back to the days of balanced budgets (I'm not hopeful btw) we're screwed. Somebody here once told me that the idea the Fed prints money is just an internet thing. I then asked if the fed creates money digitally and I got no response. Anyway, here is Powell proving my point.

$118 bbl! May 2023 contracts $87 bbl or so.

Since 2009 the credit paradigm changed forever now it's just expanding.

It seems that the Ruble energy and gold backed currency, and Yuan, will be used in a majority of the world before long with just 1B folks pegged to USD and the other 7B using it sometimes.

This will all be interesting to watch.
We know how accurate your 'predictions' are :cwl:

It's all fact based look up forward contracts on oil.

Haha I made a killing on my oil predictions 5 mths ago almost trippling significant investments / speculation.

Ruble is the best performing currently this year and 30% higher than pre sanctions LOL. It helps to have a commodity backed currency instead of hot air.

Happy to fill up at $100 tank!
Oh dear - you said exactly the same 5 months ago and yet couldn't actually provide any evidence. In fact you couldn't even name the oil company you had invested in.

LOL, need to check your figures re the Ruble. 30% up from the crash after the invasion does not make a sound investment, unless you could read Putin's mind.

Silly Troll

I have 18 inches of cellulose, all energy efficient everything, im like 50% less energy than all my neighbors year round, but yes lets double and triple my bills lame.

I dont know how my neighbors are going to be affording this (the ones without assistance from the gov yeah, handouts) I dont get any discounts or assistance, but because my house was prepped, im fine. but I can't imagine non energy efficient people,. what like 500 dollar energy and gas bills monthly???

Already told my grandma, give me a day and time, im going to be insulating her house, her retirment/security doesn't leave her much money. I dont want to see her lose a ton on bills and not make ends meet. She doesn't believe the rate increases, "ive had so and so bills for 20 years" yeah grandma, that shits changing in next month. get ready.

Whatever...I'm over joyed that gas prices are going up LOL.

I'm actually trying to burn more fuel. Trying to go from one tank a week to two and managed to get 13 mpg in my HPP vert with WOT as mush as possible 0-30 haha.

Will tripple up on boat use this summer.

Loving the natural gas prices even more!
Idiot

Whilst you 'enjoy' burning more expensive fuel many can't afford to heat their homes. Well done, I'm sure you will endear yourselves to so many people talking such rubbish.

Both are subject to huge fluctuations at the moment because of the uncertainty about Ukraine. Until that is resolved in some way it will continue. Likewise grain prices and vegetable oil prices.

The price in some ways isn't reality, there is no shortage per se of any of the commodities, they are just being weaponised by events in Ukraine. There is loads of grain and vegetable oil in Ukraine, just no way of getting it out. There will be loads of grain in Russia, but sanctions will limit supply. There is no shortage of gas, but again paying Russia €billions every day for gas somewhat goes against the grain, hence the sanctions. Same for oil.

It will calm down at some point, but hurt in the short term. Windfall taxes on the large energy companies seems entirely appropriate, as being done in the UK, which is then used to subsidise energy to those most at risk. Those companies are benefitting through events that they have no control over. In the UK the tax can be offset by investment, so if the companies invest in renewables, then they don't pay the windfall tax pro rata.

The move away from reliance on Russia for oil and gas is dramatic and irreversible here (without significant regime change there) which has huge knock on impacts for the future of Russia and the people living there. It will take a long time to rebuild confidence in any business with Russia, long after any conflict has ended.

Hello; I see you are back to calling folks trolls and now idiot. Same sort of pattern from the science is cancelled thread when your arguments falter. You do hold the company line well though. It's all the Russians. Got it.
