No whining here either. We’ve had it easy compared to EU and UK for a very long time.
And we still do. Those bastards in Venezuela though are paying pennies a gallon!

I would cheer if we had your price, you are whing about. We have to pay 7,90 USD per gallon Premium.

Edit: wait, i calculated wrong. It's 9,57 USD and still rising.

Hello; A story I have heard about your higher prices relates to much higher taxes. That the taxes inflate the price more than the base cost of the product. Is this anywhere near correct?

In IL where we have High taxes, it is only 38 cents a gallon. Europe has it bad with taxes.

Hello; Here in TN the legislators took advantage of low fuel prices a while back and passed new per gallon tax increases. The increases were to increase a bit each year for a few years. I have not kept track of where we are currently with the increase. TN does not have an income tax which helps.
TN also allows medical folks with a license from other states to practice here. That allows a group called R.A.M. (Remote Area Medicine) to set up free medical, dental and eye clinics several times a year. Doctors from other places come in to help those in need.

Why is that? I never looked into it.
Hello; I do not pretend to know much but many years ago learned why so many vehicles in parts of Europe had such small displacement engines. There use to be a steep tax on displacement. So smaller engines were more common. I once considered buying a Fiat X19 with a 750cc engine.

That's is correct. We have multiple taxes on the gas.

Energytax 2,73 USD per gallon
CO-2 Tax 0,29 USD per gallon (tobe increased annually)
Stockpile 0,01 USD per gallon
Vat 19%
Hope I didn't forget any...

But the raffineries as well rise the prices disproportionate. When the prices for oil rises gas prise rises and don't lower when prices fall (oil up 0,15 => gas up 0,50). So we are f*** multiple times by the government and the industry.

They want everyone to drive vehicles with tiny engines.
They are systematically trying to force people to switch to economic friendly cars or better bike or public transport. They cut parking lots in cities and although roush hour is nightmare in larger cities they even make it worse by closing 2 lane roads and make one lane bus/bike only. Its a mess.

Without the war we would have ended up with the actual prices anyway in 2 or 3 years. Corona and war just sped things up unfortunately.

Sportrts cars, that were equipped with V8 na displacement once, went through downsizing as well as any other cars. Look at Mercedes C63 AMG. Once it had a na 6,2 V8. Then they went 4.4 twin turbo and now its got a f*** 4 cylinder hybrid. 4 cylinder!!! Who the hell is going to spend that amount of money for a lawn mower.

Ford announced few days ago they cancel the Mustang for germany (or europe?)

Sad times have begun for car enthusiasts ...

What do you think about motorcycles? Do you think those will ever be electrified?
Cars can fit a thousand pounds batteries under the driver. But bikes small. I just ordered a 15k bike but part of me says, damn what if a year or few years one comes out that’s literally a monster a crazy range.
I’m skeptic though due to motorcycles frame size

I just heard some Challenger Youtuber speculate that we will go to mainly electric cars for 5 or 6 years, but people will realize what a pain they are and not really much better for the environment and the majority of consumers will want the convenience of the ICE engine again and eventually the V8 will be back with new technology (maybe smaller with an electric assist motor) and possibly a more efficient fuel source like synthetic gasoline. History repeating itself all over again. I tend to agree with him.

i don’t think majority care about the environment, I don’t. I would only buy electric if cost was way cheaper for overall ownership. Lol so I don’t think electric owners buy cars for political reasons. Some might but I assume very few

Electric Motorcycles have been out a few years. Many on the market, even Harley jumped in with the live wire.

Hello; In a different thread EV's were discussed a lot for a while. Pretty sure a reference was posted a few times about how EV and hybrid owners had switched back to ICE in significant numbers.

The technology to make ICE will not go away but five or more years of disuse will kill some of the current type of production. Perhaps a better way to say it is as long as some production continues the machinery and skilled people can be kept in place. If all production stops for years it will be much harder to pick ICE production back up. Factory space will have been changed over. Might cost more to retool for ICE. I do not know that big companies would hang onto and maintain the machinery. As we found out the hard way during the Covid lockdowns you can break a manufacture system and it will take years, if ever, to get back to the previous level.

There is a very strong agenda behind the "green" movement. We all should notice even as bad as the current fuel cost situation is getting for the average person, that the basic policies which started the increase in ICE fuel costs 14 months ago have not been changed. The plan was to raise the cost of ICE fuel all along. This more recent bump up the last three weeks due to the Russia/Ukraine war has been too sudden to be comfortable and has focused our minds.
The various strategies to reduce ICE fuel prices I hear about do not include reversal of the basic policies which started the rise of fuel cost in the year plus before the Ukraine war.

The "green"/EV movement wants us to be priced out of ICE. That is part of the plan. This more recent unexpected spike is too much too soon. Some scrambling for oil from other places is going on, but as far as I can tell the oil and natural gas resources we have in the USA are still being suppressed.

I heard a report that some 9,000 oil leases have not been drilled as a retort implying the oil companies are not doing all they can. The part left out is those 9,000 leases are part of around 49,000 leases purchased. The oil companies have drilled in around 40,000.
This is a guess on my part that some of those 9,000 leases are not prime sites. The sort you drill last. If those sites are indeed of questionable quality and the overall energy policy is stacked against you, that may be why the 9,000 are not yet used.
