According to the Washington Post, this graph shows that Americans are seeing a recent increase in their buying power in terms of gasoline. One hour at work today buys us about 9 gallons of gas. Last year, one hour at work bought us about 6 gallons of gas. Obviously we all don't fit into the "average" but I thought the graph(s) was interesting.

interesting perspective. my full tank is usually under 30 bucks since i fill up with about 30-70 miles left on the tank, so I can fill up with about an hours worth of work.

which might be why you opted for the V6...as comments have shown, 5.0 guys aren't as concerned...
On the surface it may look that way. But it isn't really an us v. them type of deal. Many people purchase items out of their budget and conversely many people purchase items well below their budget. I think someone hit it on the head when they mentioned the variable of 'usage.' If it is a weekend toy then price fluctuations aren't that much of an impact. If it is a DD, then there is more of an impact. So DD vs. Toy is more relevant than engine type.

This Mustang was supposed to be a 'vette or ATS-V but alas, I'm still a rich man trapped in a poor mans budget .
Corrected!

So safe to say you make about $30 an hour. No wonder you're not worried about gas prices. Or anything else in particular.

yep. when i started the service about 5 years ago it was 160/mo with tv/internet/phone. this is the first year i dropped the phone since i don't use it, but it's still above what i was paying back then.

it would be even more if i just bent over and took it, since "promotion pricing" only runs for 12 months and goes to "normal" pricing. i call every year to say i'm switching to verizon fios (even though i can't, since my building doesn't have it) and they throw in some offers and lower the bill.

if i wasn't lazy and just download all the shows i watch i would be able to just drop it and keep internet for about 50/mo, but i'm a couch potato and watch A LOT of shows on HBO/SHO and the main networks.

Wouldn't change a thing. To be honest I never even look at gas prices. Its not like I'm not going to buy it.

I stream everything, that would pay 5 car notes a year.

Shit, at $30 an hour i wouldn't need a sugar momma for anything.

i really should just do that, i already have my in-law's password for netflix. the only problem is that i watch a lot of network shows and that would require downloading through torrents/newsgroups on the daily, which is a lot of work compared to just setting the DVR.
