Has anyone thought of maybe swapping out the v6 for the 5.2 liter.

I just did a test fit of the stock GT brakes. It looks really nice with the 18in stock wheels. The only thing that concerns me is how close the calipers and inside of the wheel are. Nothing is touching but I might put 5/16in spacers just to put my mind at ease.

I think you would be fine as base GTs can put those brakes in any of the stock 18 inch wheels

I think I underestimated how big 5/16in spacers are. I think I'll look for smaller ones like the 1/8in or try it without spacers.

You could just pay off your base v6 stang, then drop one of these in there later. Rather then buying a brand new mustang 4-5 years from now.

I've thought about that too. Well I might try the 5.2 once I pay it off that's if I don't get the itch to trade mine in. I was reading an article on it and would love to have that engine.

What's the true cost of installing one of these bad boy 5.2 engines? I'm assuming there's a lot of other costs besides the engine itself?

Well 15 and up are a bit cheaper to swap a 5.2 because the electronics for the engine were designed to work with the rest of the vehicle electronics. I think for a full 5.2 your going to need engine, transmission, associated coolers, engine pcm, engine mounts, possibly under hood wiring harness, and then the inevitable small parts that you wouldn't normally think of. The easiest thing to do would be to buy a rear end impact 350 total. That way you have all of the parts required. That will likely set you back $20-30k depending on the damage and if you can actually find one. The "cheaper" route would be to get a wrecked GT and upgrade the coyote with 350 parts. You wouldn't get flat plane but you would still get decent power.

The way to go for an engine swap on our vehicles would be to purchase a wrecked mustang of the same generation with the engine you want. That way your assured to have all parts you might need at one price.
