OK...c'mon.... where's the pics?? You must have it home by now???
I got the car back on Saturday, unfortunately it was sunny when I picked up, and on my hour drive back home it started raining lol. The shop was kind enough to offer to rewash the car for free, and check on the coating to make sure everything cured correctly. They should be forwarding me some photos of the whole process, if not I'll grab a couple for you after they rewash it!

First impressions were jaw dropping. I think only time will tell if this will be a worthwhile purchase. So far I am very happy with the results and for me, it makes the car more enjoyable to drive.

Just fancy terminology for "remove all the paint swirls, scratches, and orange peel" Even though its a brand new car it had a lot of imperfections that needed to be fixed. IMO the way it looks now is how it should've came from the factory.

Yeah I get that but how is it done though? How do you physically remove a scratch?

Scratches are usually in the clear coat. 2000 grit and 3000 grit wet sanding with a high speed buffer will get them out. Also on the orange peel as well.

Not too shabby, it still gets dusty from normal driving. After another week when the modesta fully cures I will give it a wash and report back!

:eyebulge: Definitely an outstanding job!!

Agreed it should come like that from the factory but I guess it's too much to ask for.

Anyone have experience with the metallic paint finishes? I'd expect they would be less prone to light swirls/orange peel from the factory?

Just came from the Ford dealership. They prepped a new Black GT.... I was impressed!! I have a BMW 650i in Carbon Black, and the paint finish on the Mustang rivals what I have on the Beemer!!! If our Black GT PP is as good!! It's just a clay bar and wax for me!!! Maybe you just got damaged goods?? Maybe the used a dry chamois to start with???

Having said that, your car looked awesome...... From what I witnessed in the showroom, it did not even need a wet sand!!!! Will let y'all know. It's built and waiting a long train ride to my house!! At least another 3 weeks or so ???

One thing I would take caution if you decide to polish the car up. My detailer let me know that Ford uses very very thin/soft paint. So thin that you can see the base coat through the paint. I couldn't see it with my eyes but my detailer did, and under LED's it was even more apparent. You can see the base coat represented by the brown spots. This was before he started washing the car.

Been into Hot Rods and detailing my own cars forever! Clay bar and wax then polish...all by hand! There is a detail shop here in town that does a coating process of some kind. I'll check it out and let y'all know what their gig is!!

I've also been told the BMW is very thin paint and clear !!

I plan on a hood stripe in Tungsten with a red pinstripe but I'll get my guy to paint then clear the hood. No over the top or trunk stripe !
