FRPP Track Dampers w/ Eibach Pros

Anybody running this setup? Right now I have Eibach Pros and looking to upgrade to either the FRPP track dampers or Koni yellows. Stock GTPP right now besides the springs.

I think those springs are close to the FR Track Pack springs(supposed to be designed by Eibach)...both are progressive. I have the full Track Pack and am happy with it.

I don't have the Pro Kit, but I have the Ford Racing dampers with Sportlines and I like it. I could stand for it to be a little stiffer, but I would say it's definitely comfortable enough for a daily driver. I've seen some people on here complain about the harshness of the Konis, but I have no firsthand experience with them. They weren't available when I installed the Ford Racing dampers.

I've been running the FRPP dampers with Eibach Pros for about six months. It is a definite improvement over the Pros with the stock PP dampers- the stock dampers were pretty much overwhelmed by the aftermarket springs. I'm happy with the combination- it is definitely stiffer than stock but still comfortable enough for a daily driver.

So, I have the Eibach Pro springs and just changed from the Koni Yellows to the FRPP dampers and wanted to share my experience with anyone else considering this combo. I had the Eibach Pro Kit paired with the Koni Yellows for about 5 months. At first I liked this combo a lot, mainly because of how well it handled over the stock springs and dampers. The handling really was great with this combo. At higher speeds, the car was very confidence inspiring and controllable. But, after some time, the constant harsh compression jarring in everyday driving got old and I started looking at other damper options. Even after playing around with the adjustable rebound on the Koni's, I never felt like I could dial it in the way I wanted to. So, I finally pulled the trigger on the FRPP dampers from Autonation White Bear Lake for $511.50 (best deal out there AFAIK) about three weeks ago and they arrived quickly and with all pieces accounted for.

Last Tuesday I switched out the Koni's for the FRPP dampers in my garage, took a road trip Wednesday for Thanksgiving, and then returned home on Sunday. I've had about 800-900 miles on these FRPP dampers so far and I have to say they have a much better ride than the Koni's without sacrificing the handling. I can tell the compression valving is a lot less harsh on the FRPP dampers compared to the Koni's, which allows the springs to soak up more of the compression. It seemed like the Koni dampers wouldn't let the springs do much of the work and that I only got far into the springs during large, slow dips in the road. Any quick bumps, the Koni's were always there to react. On a track or at autocross, however, that's not a bad thing and the Koni's probably have the advantage, but for a street car, the FRPP performs great. As far as the rebound goes, I feel like it's right where it needs to be. I haven't gotten any bounce on the highway and the car recovers quickly from uneven surfaces/imperfections in the road. Body roll is basically the same, as it should be from me staying with the same springs.

Overall, the FRPP did exactly what I wanted them to. I think it's safe to say that the FRPP dampers will be here to stay. :ford:

The FRPP shocks feel much smoother although they still react very quick. It's stiff but not going to beat me up constantly and most of the time an enjoyable ride.

I recently read an article on the FRPP track pack on the Ford Racing website. They said they began developing the track pack just as the final production chassis was being completed. They spent a lot of time selecting all of the components (springs, shocks, antiroll bars, etc.). They worked their production suppliers, who already have loads of data about the car and product development, plus they have tools from Ford engineering. They apparently set out with a very specific set of targets to get the best performance at the track while still maintaining some reasonable ride quality. So although it would seem by some of the advertising that this was made only for the track but that's not entirely true. It is made for the track, but it's made to be driven to and from the track as well, while not making the car undrivable.

Not trying to be a Ford Racing fanboy but I think it's an important distinction. The Ford Racing Shocks are made to a specification to achieve certain targets set by Ford. The Konis and Steedas are no different. They have their own specification to achieve certain goals. I've tried to find out the spring rate on the track springs but Ford replied that it is proprietary information and so they don't give it out.

Yes, my thoughts exactly. The Koni's just weren't enjoyable and the FRPP's are, at least to me. There were actually a few times on roads trips with the Koni's that I actually got pissed because of how much I was being thrown around, haha.

I read through your other thread about the FRPP vs. Koni before I bought the FRPP dampers. Glad your enjoying your setup. :thumbsup:
