So, thanks to the videos ford has posted, we know they have been working on a tune for the ecoboost. I know for the Focus ST they released a tuning package, with mixed review IIRC. If they're going to do it for the Ecoboost Stang, can anyone hazard a guess as to how long we'll have to wait?

I'm hesitant about completely losing a powertrain warranty with the other aftermarket tunes (granted they will probably be better), even though the FRPP warranties are usually very limited. I believe for the ST it replaced the 5yr/60k powertrain warranty with a 3yr/36k limited warranty that had a $ cap at $8000. Still, better than nothing.

I think the mixed Focus ST results come from the fact that Ford Racing essentially left the top end untouched, which results in going from massive torque suddenly to the stock torque at 5,000 rpm or so. As such, the power delivery just isn't very smooth, leading people to falsely think it lost power up top (due to butt dyno).

As for whether that has any bearing on what they're doing on the 2.3, I would hope they learned to focus more on power delivery than hitting peak fast and staying safe up top. On the brightside though, that (infamous) PP did result in Ford realizing how held back the engine was, and opened the way for a lot of other ST tunes to be backed by warranty.
