I've lived in TX for over 30 years, and never an issue with no front plate. Well, for the most part. Have been harassed a little by troopers when traveling, but no tickets yet (hope it stays that way :D). I try to carry the plate on a bracket that doesn't require drilling, so I can quickly attach it if needed. On the F-150, it just snapped on, so that was nice. On most other cars, it's the tow-hook kind, but surprisingly, the Mustang does NOT have a freaking tow hook, so no dice. No way I'd put an under-bumper one with a car so low, so the only option for me would be to put double-sided tape on the plate itself and attach it to the bumper if ever needed (hope not).

For those of you reading this thread and NEED a front license plate holder. I have a brand new SHOW-N-GO license plate bracket that stores away under your front bumper. Brand new in the box all parts and directions included. Make an offer and PM.
The manufacturer lists different numbers for Non-PP, PP1 ,and PP2 cars. Which is this?

If your home state doesn't require a front licence plate, and you travel to a state which does, are you breaking the law? Are you obliged to carry a spare plate with you, and to install it each time you cross the border into a more restrictive state? Or will you be OK on the grounds that the car is legal in your home state as it is?

Yes, that is correct. The state law where the car is registered takes precedence.
