So just got new wheels and unfortunately I couldn’t get the center caps on in the front. I ordered a set of 5mm to see if it will clear. So I’ll try that first however if I need more clearance I will try to tap in the dust cap.
Question is if I need extra clearance would I hammer in the dust cap on the car or try to remove the cap first and then try to hammer it in?
For those that have done this, how much clearance would you say you gained?

Dust cap is hard plastic last I checked. So... hammering is not expected to work. In the past I have used a Dremel to make the wheel center cap more thin. But I race my car and the center caps melt, so not a problem anymore.

Well I just hammered them in and the flexed quite a bit. I was surprised how much it actually dented in. There was so much space I didn’t even need the spacers!
