If there's any interest at all. I finally got around to starting the install of the mirror. Luckily I actually found a Ford connector kit that will fit the OEM mirror connector. It's for an Expedition side mirror and does require a 3 cuts to fit but otherwise it's a perfect match. What are the chances of that. Part # WPT997

3 cuts freehand with a dremel and voila. All connected up. This will be placed in the headliner inside the map light dome.

Pull the red locking tab out. The space left over is held by a small plastic latch. Lift the latch up with a small pick and yank the unused wires/pins out. You'll be left with 5 wires.

It's just a rear view mirror... Unscrew it and it slides right off.

The new mirror is MUCH slimmer.

Stay tuned... just gotta solder the new connector to the new mirror.. then done!

I like the checklist, perhaps for the Ducati Sport 1000 in the avatar. And the beer!
Yup you got it! Drinking Kona Brewing Co. — Castaway IPA this weekend.. will definitely need more beer doing the winter maintenance on the Duc. Valve job is a royal pain hah.

Welp I finished it up. After 30 minutes of searching I realized these connectors on both Ford and the Gentex (Mirror) sides change constantly between years and vehicles. Spent the $20 for the Ford service site access to grab these:

Basically only need 3 wires. Two for power. One for reverse (turns off auto dim so you can see to backup). The other two are temp or not used. NOTE: These are the vehicle connection side. You will have to mirror these to the mirror side.

Soldered the new connector and the mirror together and made it look clean.

The new mirror doesn't have a wire guide clip. Decided to just throw in some felt pads to hold the clip in place. Note: I went back and put black ones in to match as I'm slightly OCD.

Mount mirror. Run both calbes to map light area. Mount wire beauty guide.

Wrapped in felt similar to OEM cables. Prevent any rattles.

All done!

So is it worth it? Eh. Not too impressed with the interiors of these cars. And I don't want to mess with the warranty on the powertrain. So here I am.

Hopefully this helps someone!

Congrats man!

This stuff is seriously underrated. But expect someone with Ford to see this and make it a more available but even more expensive or exclusive option for the Mustang faithful.

Well done!

I need to do this. I was somewhat annoyed when I learned the 401A cars didn't have the frameless mirror unless you bought that safety package bullshit. The regular mirror looks like some F-150 trim.

Oh, the irony on Ford's part. The people who rear end someone while annoyedly distracted by their mirror frame were the ones most in need of the safety package.

That's interesting that it only comes with safe and smart. I have it on my car but I thought it was just part of the premium trim and not my additional features.

I got my mirror today. Did some research and I found a way to make a plug n' play harness for this. I'll be selling them pretty cheap if anyone wants one. I already had one of the connectors here and even have a crimper for the terminals already so thats nice. I'll let you all know how it goes when I get the other connector in.

Here's the harness. What sucks is the old plug is so big its hard to put anywhere. I may just have to tape it to the back of my mirror... Won't see it from the inside but I guess if you look through the windshield you will. I tried to stick it in the overhead console/light area but I have other stuff up there and it wouldn't fit. You may be able to get it to fit.

I made a short and long version. If you want one, let me know via PM! Sending one out to db252 for his mirror.

Thanks for bringing awareness to this cool mirror, OP! I didn't even know it was an option!

Got a plug and play harness from Breeves002 for the frameless mirror and was able to install the connector inside my overhead console thing. Very easy and looks great. Thx Sam

Breeves002, I am interested in getting your connector. Mind sending me a PM? Thanks.

The plug that breeves002 is good, but as originally said in a few posts above, it is too big to place under the headliner. There are factory wires running across, near the windshield. The best location would probably be in the dome light area, but I was scared to break the tabs while pulling it down. I ended up just pulling the three pins with the soldered wires out of the connector and pushing them in the old factory connector (maybe breeves002 can make it this way). I left the smaller one alone (where the mirror connector plugs in). My headliner ended up still being pushed down slightly, but I left it alone, it did not help me pulling on it either, while I was trying to push all the wires underneath it. The new mirror is very classy.
