Forscan adapter issues

So, I finally spent the time to try and understand how Forscan works. I purchased a highly rated Forscan adapter from Amazon. But I have issues with it because my HP laptop does not have a 2.0 USB port. Only 3.0. After reading stuff I found out most of the adapters are just clones regardless of the name and are not really designed to work with the newer ports.
I can get a wireless adapter but the Forscan forum is saying that they are not as reliable.

Did anyone figure a way around this issue?

USB 3.0 is fully backwards compatible. You need to troubleshoot elsewhere.

If that is the one recommended on the forscan board, it should work as long as you are using windows.

I bought a cheap ($15 shipped) cable with a switch, and it has worked perfectly .

You can try using a USB 2.0 hub adapter and then using one the the hub’s ports for the forscan adapter.

Try rebooting the computer after everything is connected and ignition on.

no hscan/mscan toggle switch necessary and also works with usb3.

I had issues with connectivity using USB connectors with my HP laptop as well; happened with 3 different adapters. Wasn’t until I bought the OBDLink Ex Bluetooth version that my connectivity issue got resolved.

I used the OBDLink MX Bluetooth OBD-II and it worked perfectly (now superseded by the + version so who knows).

Well I ordered the wired adapter recommended by forscan today and then went and purchased a used computer from a guy in Craigslist that has a 2.0 USB port. I'll report back how things go when the adapter comes in tomorrow from Amazon

Glad my tuner has the correct set up. The first thing that goes on the new Mach 1 is the double horn honk on exit and enabling bambi mode.

Bambi mode is having the fog lights work at the same time as the brights. First thing I'm doing once I get my adapter as well as changing the axle ratio
