This is something that I've seen in my earlier days of HPDE events. This is why I only buy and sell quality forged wheels.

I had iforged wheels on my old IS350 and they had a catastrophic failure and when we tried to get in touch with them they never responded and avoided any contact. Sketchy company and if you don't know Forgestar is just a rebranded form of iforged because they had such a bad reputation. Needless to say they will not be getting any of my money.

I'm sure some people love their wheels and haven't had any issues with them but I'm glad you are bringing this to light

I can't stand to see people get screwed out of their hard earned money.

If I wouldn't run it on my car I will not sell it.

Here's a pic of an accident in my previous car.

This is for all of you to see how a wheels should react. I went off of the track at 100+ , flew over a hill and landed in a gutter.

These Enkeis which are very high quality cast wheels only bent.

But they're expensive, so they must be good. And how can I get instagram famous if I can't hashtag forgestar?

I'd be pissed if my HREs did that.

I've done about 10 minutes of research on this and it seems the only reported cases are on the thinner spoked f14's. Most are older threads, seems one of the only recent failures i've seen in that short bit of research online. Nothing on the first couple pages of google for cf5's or cf5v's

I think a better point to bring up is to inspect your gear before you track it. I would not have really thought to inspect the spokes specifically, or as closely so thanks for shedding a bit of light on an important component

I've heard of a similar failure on just regular highway driving with TSW wheels...

I mean... is this so common that it's a Toyota recall grade trend here?

All wheel manufacturers have a production error margin. Every wheel of every brand has had a failure of some sort at some point. When distributors of other brands post up bad things about another brand of wheel, it just looks unprofessional.

I know N4SM isn't going to get in a pissing match about this seeing as he's the guy that sells the most forge star stuff on here. But if people want information about products that they are going to purchase, they should seek it out privately anyway and not have to be subject to a video of some guy tracking his S2k, abusing his stuff as much as possible, having a failure of some sort. This could happen to any wheel on any car at anytime. Especially on track conditions. If you track your stuff, you should be prepared for mechanical failures of any type.

There are design changes that can be made to that wheel spoke. Foremost is remove the sharp corner that acts as a stress riser. Once the crack starts it further focuses stress at the leading edge. The highest stresses are at the surface of the spoke so all edges should be radiused.

Aluminum grain looks super huge. Might be no or bad heat treatment or alloy limitations.

Unless a wheel is specifically engineered and advertised as engineered for racing by a company with proven circuit history, its not intended for racing.

Stay away from light, cheap wheels and stay safe.

Ever wonder why Ford BOSS race wheels used in sanctioned racing built by bbs are so heavy? Durability.
