I went with an ecoboost premium automatic. To me the motors were pretty much identical when I took them for a test drive. I wanted the leather interior and the shaker sound system so I went with the ecoboost. Now having more time driving the ecoboost I love the ecoboost motor even more. It's got massive torque that makes for a great dd. Sure if you wind both the v6 and the ecoboost out you'll notice little difference. I guarantee though if you had both for any significant amount of time you'd find the ecoboost a much more satisfying dd and it not even being close.

A little biased, are you? Glad you enjoy your ride! I'm in the same boat as you, I feel like my car is very satisfying DD and wouldn't have gone any other way. Ride On! :headbang:

Biased? I don't think I am. Getting better mpg and a motor that cranks out massive torque at low rpms is awesome. The v6 is a good motor. Honestly I like new technology too. Enjoy your ride sir. You have a fine car.

Can you people fuck off already?

20ft lb of wheel torque in a 3500lb car is mostly placebo if you claim you feel much of a difference.

Thank you.

It's where the torque is made that makes the difference. Not peak torque. And take a deep breath. No reason to get into insults.

Have you looked at the dyno for both? Because I have.

I don't know if you realize but you're like the ecoboost Jehovah's witness in this section of the forum.

I pretty much agree that the lack of options on the V6 is not a good move on Ford's part.

But I understand it. And this is why:

Going off Canadian prices here.

The base V6, manual tranny, without any bells and whistles, is marked at $25K. The base Ecoboost, manual tranny, without any bells and whistles, is marked at $28K. In terms of features, these two cars are almost identical in every way except the engine.

So you're essentially paying $3,000 to go from a V6 to an Ecoboost.

The Ecoboost premium costs about $33,500.

$33,500 - $28,000 = $5,500

Now let's look at GT ($42,500) vs. GT Premium ($5,500):

$42,500 - $37,000 = $5,500

So we can agree that the cost of "Premium" features is $5,500. Meaning a V6 Premium would cost something around $30,500.

To me, if I was given an option of V6 Premium for $30,500, I wouldn't pause to even remotely consider the Ecoboost. And I wouldn't understand why anyone else would. Sure, it might have a better MPG, but beyond that, the V6 and Ecoboost are almost identical with a $3,000 price gap, with V6 being the cheaper one. So you'd get more bang for your buck with the V6.

If there was a V6 Premium, I think no one would bother with Ecoboost; and Ford realized this too.

But if there was demand for it, which there seems to be, I wouldn't be surprised if a V6 Premium is offered in future models.

For now, I'll stick with the base V6 and save money for mods or my eventual GT. ;)
I'll just be a little sad about lack of leather seats.
But there is the mistake we customers make. I did look for the V6 and got pushed over to the EcoBoost because the V6 has no upgrades. I did get aftermarket leather on my 2005 convertible but I thought I like it when it comes direct from the factory with it. Take only the price of the leather plus heating you are already at $1,600. No leather inserts on the doors. No drive modes. No navigation etc. (I think) So Ford is knowingly giving us no choice than getting the EcoBoost.

BTW. Heated seats are $140 on top of Katzkin leather. Everything more ask is a rip off. :gossip:

After owning a 3.7 for about 16 or so months, I can say that the 3.7 is a beast but there is not much power down low, that's what oilfield is talking about.

You'd be surprised by a 2015. Down low the 3.7 actually has equal/similar torque the 5.0. That equality disappears quickly, but it's there, particularly with the changes for 2015. Look at the dyno charts from Tom Y. Flat around 250 rwtq for most of the rev range. The ecoboost goes higher still but the 3.7 doesn't run out of steam up top. Both are fun, just depends on what you're preference is.

These Ford V6's with a ProCharger are fantastic.

And we want to see if we can adapt our 2011-14 V6 kit to one of these 2015 cars.

Cause honestly, they are just to much fun to drive with blowers not to!

It's very hard to find a V^ manual w/the 3.55 on a dealer's lot to test drive. If I could find one, I might like it and buy it. As it is, I'm holding out for a GT.

I don't want no other stinking upgrades in the V6, just the wheels and axle.

It was a few months before one popped up near me. You'll have to be patient or be willing to drive. It's a lot of fun. One thing to keep in mind is that it'll definitely pull harder after fully broken in. I noticed a significant improvement with the one I drove with ~4000 miles on it.

I already spoke to Mark@Procharger about this. I wanted one for my car. I have a buddy that installed one on his 2014 (I thought it was a 2015) and it's incredible. 431whp! Kicks GT asses for almost 10K less. Please hurry and adapt a kit for 2015. It's just a question of tuning I'm sure. Either that or I'm going with LPF.

I'm sure one will pop up sooner or later. I was very lucky - the first one I drove was also the exact car I wanted - so I drove it home! :headbang:

How do you figure? Mustang V6 with 051A package and 3.55 gears is $ 26,015. An equally equipped Mustang GT with 3.55 gears is $$33,520. A Procharger supercharger runs $5500. That's only $2005 cheaper before install.....
