For owners of 2018 S550’s.... this has been topic of discussion previously on how easily the rear black decklid panel gets scratched. Ford TSB 18-2230 attached discusses what is warranted.

Even though it’s specific to 2018, it *might* apply to 2019’s since the lane, is exactly the same.
The FRP blank one also is a scratch magnet.

Thanks for sharing the TSB. Especially if you have a polisher, I'd suggest fixing this yourself to avoid leaving the car at the dealer. Only you can make sure to tape off the necessary areas and avoid bumping/scratching the tail lights with the backing plate etc.

So the fix is just polish it out without shooting some clear on it or something? They are going to have to amend the manuals by adding "polish deck lid panel" to the maintenance schedule. Maybe they can put that next to the oil life monitor. Deck lid panel 10 % hold to reset.

Seems pointless to fix the scratches when it will just scratch again next time someone touches it. I will just deal with it until I feel like putting in the labor to recoat with something more resilient. The TSB is just a bandaid.

It really is a delicate piece. I have light scratches on mine I need to take care of. That Expel is sounding like a winner right now.

It might look good with a matt black finish or wrap.

Seems like it would be a good market for the vendors to have them pre made. But they stubbornly don't seem to be making many 2018+ compatible products. It's like we don't exist.

Bumping this one; I posted a helpful DIY for how to fix the rear decklid panel blems or scratches. I did this today to my 2018.

This will work for spider webbing and light scratches that cannot be felt by a finger nail. If running your finger nail over the scratch and it catches in the scratch, this DIY won’t help and unfortunately nothing will buff that type of blemish out.

Enjoy and hope it helps others:
