I know there are many reasons a company will Trademark a name, primarily its to protect it from being used by others. However, if we ARE going to get a new Tbird, it had better not be another EV SUV!

I know the recently revealed sculpture that previews Ford next design language had many, including me, hoping its a thinly veiled view of the next gen Mustang. However, the side profile definitely had early Tbird influence.

It amazes me that it took Ford 65 years to trademark the name. Wondering why the need to do this now.

It's been trademarked for decades, since the 50s. Trademarks get registered, have X years till they're renewed, sometimes lapse, go into a grace period. This is just some recent activity.

they lapse if you stop using them. They hadn't made a T-bird in years, so it lapsed.

I recall that I read on a forum , I think Blue Oval News , that 2012 was suppose to be the year of the Thunder Bird. What happened with that ?

Hopefully they'll come to their senses and declare that the "Mustang Mach E" was just a special edition and from now on it will be a Thunderbird.

I was hoping Ford would produce a small two seat sports car and call it Thunderbird. Why should Miata mostly have the small sports car market to its self ? The 2.3 HPP engine would be perfect for the T-Bird.
