Hey guys,

Was hoping to get some quick feedback from you all. So I've taken my car in for suspension mods, dropped off this morning. It turns out now that the BMR handling springs I wanted are delayed. Apparently the shop won't get them until Tues-Wed of next week, so that means another week I won't have my car. It is my DD and my only car so I really can't afford to have it out another week, especially when the mods would take 3-4 days as was estimated by the shop.

The shop suggested the Ford Racing Y Track springs, which are readily available. I had originally planned on going with Ford Racing track handling kit until the shop suggested that a BMR setup would make a more robust package.

The Ford Racing Y springs are progressive vs the BMR handling which is dual rate linear. What I am asking is, would the Ford Y track springs work for me or should I be worried?

Here was the proposed setup, so insert the Ford Racing Y springs instead.

BMR vertical links for lower control arms, spherical, Delrin
BMR sway bar kit
Koni Sport Yellow Shocks/Struts (adjustable)
BMR toe rods
BMR cradle lockout
*BMR handling springs
Ford Racing Strut Tower/Cowl Brace

Now the Koni shocks are fully adjustable- so the idea being of the Ford Racing springs are a little softer I could compensate by adjusting the Koni's to suit my driving style.

This is going to be used on the street. But I do plan on going to the track and the idea behind the whole project was to make this a beast for the street and prepare me if I do take it to the track on the regular. Basically I want it to be like the PP car but a step beyond that. But I don't want springs that won't work well with shock/strut combo.

I am thinking that since the Konis are adjustable, I should be fine. What say you? Can ya help a newb with some advice?

Is the car already apart? If so somebody made a mistake starting the work before the parts were all accounted for.

I'd wait for the BMR handling springs if it was my car. CJ Pony Parts seems to have them in stock, just get them from there (or any other vendor).

First of all I'm going to be installing more suspension bits than that and it won't take but more than a day (getting help from friends in Atlanta S550s so there's that but so could people at the shop). 3-4 days seems ridiculous to me but I don't know what they're situation is. Vertical links, for example, will take 20 minutes. Springs and shocks a couple hours. Cradle lock out probably the hardest thing of the bunch cuz you have to fight the IRS but still... 2 hours? Maybe they're not working on your car all day. Fine.

Second, the Ford racing track springs are excellent and if they didn't say Ford Racing on them and instead said Eibach or Steeda everyone would love them no doubt. I'd wait for them if you want a flat stance. If you want a more raked stance, wait for BMR. BMR Handling springs are generally not "stocked" or "immediately available" because they are less popular because they require dampers to be in a proper application.

I'd be happy with the Ford springs if I were you.

I'm thinking you're right. I should be good with the FR springs. I don't fully understand the actual effects of progressive versus linear springs though.

The car is not apart yet, but I think they may have installed the exhaust, because the guy mentioned that exhaust would be in today. They didn't really know whether or not I was going to approve their estimate until the day before, which is when they placed orders. So I think the mixup with BMR is just an unfortunate timing thing. I'm not pissed off about it, maybe slightly disappointed but big deal.

I just didn't want to find out next week that I waited for the BMR springs and they still didn't come in. It's weird not having my car. Even just the night after dropping it off I'm like, oh I can just hop in the car and go somewhere.. But I have no car.

Really love the car. I think Ford made a great one with this Mustang. It reminds me of a modern 68 mustang. But anyway, I just wanted to see if there was a good reason why I shouldn't do this, or if this spring/shock combo would not work well together.

Welp.. No response needed now.

They got some BMR performance springs in! Yes. I think these will fit the bill even better than the handling springs we discussed initially. Bomb diggety.
